Fazit

Pirates war ein nettes Spiel – vor sechs Jahren. Mittlerweile ist es ein altes Spiel, und wenn man die Technik in Betracht zieht, vor allem ein veraltetes Spiel. Eine grafische Eroberung des Wii-Kutters wäre das Mindeste gewesen, stattdessen hat man sich für das Kielholen der Spieleraugen entschieden. Aber okay, gute Grafik macht noch kein gutes Spiel, und unter der hässlichen Hülle steckt ein sehr unterhaltsamer Kern. Der wird aber durch die unnötig fummelige und auf hohle Bewegungssteuerung setzende Wiimote-Kontrolle erfolgreich in Schach gehalten. Akzeptiert man, dass Tänze und Schwertkämpfe eher nach dem Zufallsprinzip denn mit echter Kontrolle ablaufen, dann kann man mit dem bemerkenswert umfangreichen Pirates auch auf Wii Spaß haben. Aber warum sollte man, wenn die ursprüngliche PC-Fassung nach wie vor in jeder Hinsicht weit überlegen ist?

Da hinkt das Holzbein: Die Wii-Piraten sind nicht nur in jeder Hinsicht veraltet, sondern steuern sich auch unnötig fummelig.

  1. Finde das Spiel eigentlich ganz okay. Gute Animationen, niedliche Grafiken, gute Musiken -> Karibikfeeling pur. Dazu gibt es einige Veränderungen, die ich aus der Xbox originals Version noch nicht kannte (Schiff personalisieren bspw.).
    Zum Kritikpunkt des veralteten Spielprinzips: Praktisch jedes neue Spiel setzt auf Altbewährtes. Sei es nun Grafikengine, Steuerung, Inhalt. Ein Shooter bleibt ein Shooter. Pirates eben Pirates. Das Genre neu definieren kann nur ein Sid Meier. Jedenfalls bin ich froh, dass ich es nun auf der Wii ebenfalls spielen kann. Der Umfang ist verglichen mit anderen Spielen sehr enorm, vergesst das nicht (4 Fraktionen, unendliche Spielmöglichkeiten)
    Ich gebe einfach mal 75%. Solide Kost, aber auch nichts wie es ein Zelda / Monster Hunter Tri eben ist.

    Naja, für einen 20 sicher nicht verkehrt.
    Gibt es auch mehr Schiffe? Ich fand es doch sehr einfallslos, eine hohe Anzahl an Schiffstypen zu erreichen, in dem man pro Schiffstyp drei verschiedene Größen hat.
    Sind auch die Kampfhintergründe verändert worden? Oder kämpft man noch immer auf einer Galeone (Dasselbe gilt auch für die Stadtbelagerungen)?
    Weht der Wind immernoch stets nach Westen?

  3. Um Grafik geht es dabei nicht im geringsten (weiß garnicht ob das Remake auf dem PC besser aussieht, ist ja auch egal), sondern um das Spiel dahinter. Und das ist einfach schlecht umgesetzt worden wie es scheint.

  4. Habe das Originall Pirates und die Remakes noch nie gezockt.
    Deshalb kann ich nicht sagen, wie das ganze in gut aussieht. :D
    Und die Wii Umsetzung, ist ja mal wirklich ne Frechheit wie es scheint.
    Durch solche Spiele hat die Wii doch ihren schlechten Ruf, dass sie keine Grafikpower hat.
    Dabei hat sie doch schon oft gezeigt was sie alles leisten kann.
    Beispiele sind z.B. Zelda Twilight Princess, die Super Mario Galaxy Teile und nicht zu vergessen Metroid Prime Corruption.
