Fazit

Beim Spielen von The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution fühlte ich mich ähnlich zwiegespalten wie die Walker vor der Kettensäge. Wer das Gammelfleisch fachgerecht und mit prachtvollen Gedärmen zerlegen möchte, sollte vielleicht besser auf die Umsetzung für PC (Februar 2023) oder PSVR 2 (21. März 2023) warten. Auf dem XR2-Chip der Quest 2 wirkt die Unreal Engine ein wenig überfordert vom Gemetzel. Das zeigt sich unter anderem in unscharfen Texturen und nervigen Rucklern beim Sägen. Auch einige Bugs und grafische Glitches könnten in einer Umsetzung schon ausgebügelt sein. Als ich mich daran gewöhnt hatte, entfalteten die blutigen Ausflüge aber eine ähnliche Sogwirkung wie im Vorgänger: Nach wie vor ist viel bedachte Planung nötig, um im der Apocalypse zu überleben und dunklen Mächten wie dem Axeman oder dem Tower auf die Schliche zu kommen. Auch das Handling der angenehm schweren Waffen sorgt wieder für viel Spaß bei der Mettproduktion. Für den Preis von 39,99 Euro hat Skydance Interactive zwar erstaunlich viele Spielelemente recycelt, im Gegenzug gibt es aber immerhin einige coole Neuerungen wie die Kettensäge und frische, knifflige Areale. Insgesamt also erneut ein fesselnder VR-Überlebenskampf, der sein Potenzial auf der Quest 2 aber noch nicht voll entfaltet.
