Endlich auch auf der PS2

Bislang mussten die PS2-User immer neidisch auf die Konkurrenz-Konsolen schauen, wenn es um Beach-Volleyball geht. Zwar war DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball im Kern nichts anderes als eine optisch eindrucksvolle Barbie-Simulation und Beach Spikers auf dem GameCube hat nach einiger Zeit auch nur noch für Multiplayer-Duelle herhalten können, aber immerhin hatten die Nintendo- und Microsoft-Fans ein Volleyball-Spiel zur Auswahl.
Doch nun ist die Wartezeit vorbei, und die Jagd nach Punkten und Schmetterbällen kann auch auf der PS2 losgehen.

Langzeitmotivation?

Obwohl mit Arcade, Freundschaftsspielen und der Summer Tour, die Euch durch verschiedene Ressorts führt, eigentlich genügend Spielvariationen vorhanden sind, dürfte Summer Heat Beach Volleyball für Einzelspieler relativ schnell trist werden.
Denn beendet Ihr das Training, das Euch in die Feinheiten der gut reagierenden Steuerung einführt, steht Euch mit Tina eine neue Spielerin zur Verfügung, mit der Ihr die Konkurrenz nahezu spielerisch einfach in die Tasche stecken könnt.
Daher verpuffen die verschiedenen Eigenschaften der Spieler, die während des Spiels auch deutlich spürbar sind, nahezu im Nichts. Denn die taktische Auswahl (welcher Spieler passt zu wem?) wird durch die viel zu früh frei gegebene Tina stark relativiert.

Zwar werden auch die anderen anfänglich noch gesperrten Slots nach und nach mit guten bis sehr guten Spielern aufgefüllt, doch irgendwie kann man die neuen Spieler und auch freispielbaren Outfits nicht mehr so ganz als Belohnung empfinden, da man sie viel zu einfach erreichen kann.
