Story

Peter Parker, seines Zeichens Photograph beim Daily Bugle, ist ein ganz normaler Mensch wie Du und Ich. Möchte man zumindest auf den ersten Blick meinen. Denn in Wirklichkeit ist er der sensationelle Spiderman. Die Story beginnt mit einer miserablen Videosequenz. Peter ist auf eine Präsentation von Doktor Octopus (welcher logischerweise ein Bösewichten ist) um Photos zu schießen, als es zu einem unvorhersehbaren Zwischenfall kommt (wie es bei Comics eben üblich ist). Ein als Spiderman verkleideter Unbekannter stiehlt die Erfindung des Doktors. Natürlich ist das ein gefundenes Fressen für die Medien und die Polizei, denn die Spinne ist ja nicht unbedingt der beliebteste Held. Zu dem ganzen Schlamassel kommt dann noch die Wiedergeburt von Venom dazu, einem der größten Feinde von Spidey. Die ganzen Probleme fangen aber erst an, als Doc Ock ein seltsames Gas in New York freilässt. Jetzt ist für Peter Parker die Zeit gekommen in seinen engen Anzug zu steigen und die Welt (oder zumindest New York) zu retten.

Gameplay

Am Anfang wird man von Black Cat begrüßt, die einem auf den ersten Auftrag hinweist. Außerdem sind überall in den Levels Fragezeichen versteckt, bei deren Berührung man nützliche Tipps bekommt. Im Laufe des Spiels trifft man viele bekannte Marvelhelden bzw. Bösewichter wie z.b. Dare Devil oder Rhino. Wenn man mit der etwas gewöhnungsbedürftigen Steuerung zurechtkommt macht es wirklich Spaß mit Spiderman durch die Schluchten der Großstadt zu schwingen. Auf Knopfdruck schießt die Spinne ihr Netz an die nächste Häuserwand um sich dorthin zu ziehen. Kommt es zu einem Kampf mit den zahlreichen Gangstern, kann man sich zwischen Tritt und Schlagkombinationen entscheiden. Auch das Netz, Spidermans Markenzeichen, kommt zum Zuge. Man kann z.b. mit Netzbällen auf Angreifer schießen, einen Schutzschild um sich herum erzeugen oder den Gegner einfach nur einspinnen. Die Endgegnerduelle fallen leider etwas leicht aus. Meistens reicht es, Kontrahenten wie Rhino mit dem Webball zu beschießen und auf sicherer Distanz zu bleiben.
