Steh ich im Wald hier? Statische Beleuchtung, schlimmes Flimmern, matschige Texturen, harte Kanten, keine plastischen Konturen, kein Anti-Aliasing, kein Nebel, keine Tiefenunschärfe, grob aufgelöste Videos. Au Backe, schon die ersten Meter durch dieses Resident Evil 4 gleichen einem Horrortrip. Nicht, weil das Spiel so spannend ist, sondern weil die Technik so grausam ist. Leon und die mutierten Verrückten sehen noch gut aus, aber die Kulisse ist landschaftlich und auch in Sachen Interieur einfach mager. Die eckigen Laubhügel, die platten Bäume, die fehlenden Lichteffekte – so etwas kann der PC heutzutage zwei Klassen besser.

Wenn ihr wissen wollt, wie spannend Resident Evil 4 ist, warum es mal unser Spiel des Jahres wurde, dann blättert bitte schnell weiter zum Test anno 2005. Denn neben der Kulisse ist auch die Tastatursteuerung eine Katastrophe: Erstens wird die Maus nicht unterstützt, Kameraschwenks erfolgen über die viel zu sensiblen Richtungstasten. Wenn man per W, A, S, D läuft und sich gleichzeitig umschaut, kommt man sich vor wie auf hoher See. Und das Zielen ist ebenfalls schwierig.

Immerhin: Ein Gamepad wird unterstützt! Nur so sollte man sich überhaupt diesem Survival-Horror am PC stellen. Aber selbst wenn man sich an die grobe Kulisse gewöhnt hat, wahnsinnige Dörfler und Kuttenträger mit funkelnden Augen näher schlurfen, mit scharfen Äxten, rostigen Mistgabeln und Molotow-Cocktails bewaffnet, kommt eher Emulator- als Horror-Stimmung auf.

  1. Hab mirs vor kurzem für 5€ gekauft, natürlich sofort aufgewertet mit Patch 1.10, Ultimate Community Pack und Mouseaim.
    Am Anfang fand ich es recht gelungen, aber dann...
    Viel zu viele QTE, hat mich Dutzende Leben gekostet
    Nervige Endgegner, die viel zu viel Munition verschlingen
    Nervige Ashley, die ich gerne gegen Sheva austauschen würde
    Speichersystem daneben: Zwar bei jedem Kapitelende Speichern möglich, aber dann meist nach der 1.Tür wieder Speichermöglichkeit, dann öfters mal lange harte Durststrecken ohne Speicherung.
    Vom Schwierigkeitsgrad finde ich viel zu schwer, besonders wegen der insgesamt mißlungenen Steuerung und teils sehr unfairen QTEs
    Aber 38% (habe keine andere Version gespielt) sind zu wenig, ich hätte 60% gegeben
    Kein Vergleich zu RE5, das macht Spaß und ist selten unfair
    Somit bleibt für mich RE2 der beste Teil, RE5 kommt auf Platz 2.
    Manche mögen monieren das die neueren RE-Teile eher Shooter als Survival-Horror sind, aber damit könnte ich leben; allerdings wäre es mal Zeit das Speichersystem zu verbessern und es sollte endlich möglich sein auch unter dem Laufen zu schießen. Auf die QTE sollte man ganz verzichten, ist schließlich kein J´n´R
