Der Spielablauf ist insgesamt sehr flüssig, da sogar Flankenwechsel und schnelle Steilpässe möglich sind. Wer sich mit dem komplizierten Pass-System von FIFA WM 2002 herumquälte, wird hier seine wahre Freude haben: einfach, ansehnlich und ohne Schnörkel wandert das Rund durch die Reihen. Die KI der eigenen Mitspieler kann ebenfalls zufrieden stellen – auch wenn sie an Konamis Genre-König nicht herankommt. In der Offensive stehen Euch neben Kurzpass und hohem Pass noch der aus Pro Evolution Soccer bekannte Steilpass (hier allerdings weniger effektiv), zwei Dribblings und leider nur ein Schusstyp zur Verfügung. Hier wurde die Ballphysik minimalisiert, denn genaue Platzierungen (flach in die Ecke; hoch in den Winkel) sind nicht möglich, da scheinbar immer ein hoher Standardschuss abgegeben wird, den man nur noch in der Richtung (links, rechts) verändern kann – alles weitere ist Glückssache. Trotzdem gelingt so viel zu leicht aus der zweiten Reihe ein Torerfolg, ganz ohne Boost und Schnickschack. Bei Flanken kommen dafür noch ansehnliche Seitfallzieher, Fallrückzieher und bizarre Karate-Kick-Schüsse zum Einsatz.

Rasenzauber für Genießer

Richtig spektakulär wird`s allerdings erst, wenn Ihr beim Schuss gleichzeitig die Boost-Taste und eine Richtungstaste drückt. Von einem Rauschen begleitet wechselt das Spiel à la Matrix in Zeitlupe (TIME-WARP-SLOW-MO-BLUR-Effekt) und zeigt extravagante Schusseinlagen, die jedem Bodenturner Schweiß auf`s Gesicht treiben würden: Radschlag-Schüsse, elegante Sprung-Schüsse und Salto-Schüsse mit dem Rücken zum Tor begeistern auch optisch mit Rauchwolken und Feuerschweif. Und in welchem Spiel kann man einen Torwart schon im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes ins Tor schießen? Die Goalies verhalten sich teilweise erschreckend gut und wehren so manchen schwierigen Ball ab, retten knapp über die Latte oder zur Ecke – selbst Boost-Feuerbälle bedeuten nicht unbedingt einen Erfolg. Leider zeigen sich ab und an grobe Grafikpatzer: Da wird ein Torhüter samt Ball deutlich neben den Kasten geschossen und trotzdem gibt`s ein Tor.
