Fazit

Ich bin ein großer Fan klassischer City-Builder wie Ceasar, Zeus, Nebuchadnezzar oder eben – Pharao. Dass mein allerliebster Stadtbau-Klassiker ein Remake bekommt und damit in seiner ganzen, altägyptischen Pracht einer neuen Spieler-Generation zugänglich gemacht wird, kann ich folgerichtig eigentlich nur feiern. Und eins ist klar: Spielmechanisch ist Pharao immer noch ganz vorne mit dabei, das zeigt auch der direkte Vergleich mit dem erheblich jüngeren Nebuchadnezzar, welches die Balance aus Schönbau und Waren-Management nicht ganz so gut hinbekommen hat. Allerdings ärgert mich am Remake gleichzeitig auch so einiges: Die Kulisse wirkt deutlich seelenloser als die des Originals, die neuen Figuren sind meiner Meinung nach unpassend – und warum wichtige Features wie Kameradrehung und Minimap eines 24 Jahre alten Spiels in einem umfassenden Remake weggespart wurden, ist mir ein Rätsel. Dazu kommen penetrante Popups, zu große UI-Elemente und potentiell bedrohte Speicherstände. Trotz eingeschlossener Kleopatra-Erweiterung: Von Pharaoh – A New Era hatte ich mir mehr erhofft.

Zeitloses Spielkonzept, mäßige Modernisierung: Bei Pharaoh – A New Era wäre visuell deutlich mehr drin gewesen, zudem wurden wichtige Features gestrichen. Trotzdem überzeugt der Citybuilder im alten Ägypten spielerisch.

    ich werde irgendwann in einem Sale dann auch bestimmt mal zugreifen, wenn es nochmal poliert wird. Das habe ich damals schon ordentlich gesuchtet. Ist die Frage, ob es dann über ein wenig Retro Feeling hinausgeht bei mir und die gleiche Sucht wie damals erzeugt. :-)

  3. So sehr mir das Setting gefällt, das Micromanagement schreckt mich dann doch ab. Es kann doch nicht so schwer sein ein vernünftiges Aufbauspiel auf die Beine zu stellen. Nehmt die Bedürfnisse zur Erweiterung eines Anno mit Siedler 2. Fertig. :(
