Fazit

Der Name Fantastic Contraption bringt es auf den Punkt: Das Knobelspiel des Entwickler-Pärchens Northway gehört tatsächlich zu den fazinierendsten Erlebnissen, die es momentan für das HTC Vive gibt. Es ist schon etwas Besonderes, wenn man mit ausladenden Bewegungen riesige Vehikel und andere Gestänge-Monstren zusammensteckt. Immer wieder tigert man wie ein Mechaniker durch den Raum, um Feinheiten auszubessern. Sicher, die winzige Werkzeugpalette und das nur leicht variierende Spielprinzip dämpfen auf Dauer die Motivation, zumal auch Steuerung und Physik-Engine noch Feintuning vertragen könnten. Trotz des minimalistischen Konzepts gibt es aber erstaunlich vielseitige Lösungsmöglichkeiten, welche die grauen Zellen gehörig in Wallung bringen und die Kreativität beflügeln. Zudem macht es deutlich mehr Spaß, mit eigenen Händen zu hantieren statt klassisch in einem Editor herum zu klicken. Momentan liegt das 36,99 Euro teure Spiel der HTC Vive übrigens kostenlos bei, das Angebot ist laut offiziellem Shop aber zeitlich begrenzt.
