Wie bei allen Tower Denfence-Spielen dreht sich auch bei Pixeljunk Monsters alles um das Platzieren und Aufr\u00fcsten von Abwehranlagen, mit denen ihr versucht, feindliche Angriffswellen auszul\u00f6schen, bevor diese eure Basis erreichen. Insgesamt habt ihr die Wahl zwischen zehn unterschiedlichen Turmbauten, die je nach Gegnerart und -anzahl verschieden effektiv sind. Kanonen, M\u00f6rser und Teslaspulen richten zwar gro\u00dfen Schaden an, brauchen aber lange zum Nachladen und sind gegen fliegende Angreifer wirkungslos.

Einfach, aber genial: Haltet die feindlichen Angriffswellen auf, bevor sie eure Basis erreichen.<\/TD><\/TR><\/TBODY><\/TABLE><\/SPAN>Flaks und Lasert\u00fcrme machen mit Fluggegnern hingegen kurzen Prozess, verweigern bei Fu\u00dftruppen jedoch den Dienst. Pfeilt\u00fcrme, Blitzschleudern oder Bienenst\u00f6cke sind wiederum Allround-Waffen, denen es jedoch an Durchschlagskraft mangelt, w\u00e4hrend Eist\u00fcrme Bodentruppen verlangsamen und Flammenwerfer sie erbarmungslos r\u00f6sten.

Damit ihr den Aufbau eurer Verteidigungsanlagen besser planen k\u00f6nnt, werden die als n\u00e4chstes anr\u00fcckenden Feindverb\u00e4nde rechtzeitig als symbolische Vorschau eingeblendet – anstehende Bossk\u00e4mpfe inklusive. Allerdings m\u00fcssen eure Bauvorhaben auch finanziert werden. Daher hinterlassen get\u00f6tete Gegner regelm\u00e4\u00dfig Gold, das zum Errichten neuer T\u00fcrme ben\u00f6tigt wird, sowie Kristalle, mit denen ihr weitere Turmarten frei schalten und bestehende Bauten aufr\u00fcsten k\u00f6nnt, damit sie noch effektiver werden. Durch erfolgreichen Feindbeschuss verbessern sich eure Geb\u00e4ude zwar auch automatisch, das dauert aber deutlich l\u00e4nger. Allerdings k\u00f6nnt ihr diesen Zyklus immens beschleunigen, indem ihr eure Spielfigur einfach in dem betreffenden Turm platziert.

Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Vertretern des Genres wird Pixeljunk Monster n\u00e4mlich nicht mit einem Cursor-Interface, sondern einer frei beweglichen Spielfigur gesteuert, die auch selbst Schaden nehmen und dadurch kurzzeitig bewusstlos werden kann. Auch Gold und Kristalle m\u00fcssen mit dieser Figur eingesammelt werden, bevor sie sich in Wohlgefallen aufl\u00f6sen. Dadurch kommt auf der einen Seite zwar eine gewisse Hektik ins Spiel, auf der anderen Seite hat man aber auch immer etwas zu tun und muss sich nicht nur um taktisch kluge Frontformationen, sondern auch eine sinnvolle Wegplanung k\u00fcmmern. Dar\u00fcber hinaus k\u00f6nnt ihr eure T\u00fcrme nicht aufstellen, wo ihr Lust und Laune habt, sondern m\u00fcsst diese auf B\u00e4umen errichten, was eine weitere strategische Komponente ins Spiel bringt.

Der Reiz des Besonderen<\/STRONG>

Diese und andere Unterschiede sind es jedoch, die Pixeljunk Monsters von der Konkurrenz abheben und eine angenehme Eigenst\u00e4ndigkeit verleihen. Dazu z\u00e4hlt auch der Koop-Modus, bei dem ihr die Angreifer als Team abwehren d\u00fcrft. Schade nur, dass dieser Modus nur offline verf\u00fcgbar ist und keine speziell designten Levels zu bieten hat.

Ihr w\u00e4hlt auf der Landkarte einfach den n\u00e4chsten Schauplatz und weiter geht’s. Leider gibt es auch keine zus\u00e4tzlichen Spielmodi oder einen Leveleditor f\u00fcr eigene Kreationen. Nicht einmal der sp\u00e4ter ganz sch\u00f6n happige Schwierigkeitsgrad l\u00e4sst sich in irgendeiner Form regulieren. Aber f\u00fcr f\u00fcnf Euro bekommt ihr trotzdem eine genauso originelle wie fordernde Tower Defence-Erfahrung geboten, die ihr dank Remote Play sogar auf der PSP genie\u00dfen k\u00f6nnt.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0

Fazit<\/strong><\/h3>Pixeljunk Monsters ist eine gelungene Umsetzung des Tower Defence-Spielprinzips, die mit einigen netten Ideen und tadelloser Spielbarkeit aufwartet. Die Angreifer aufhaltenden Abwehrt\u00fcrme werden nicht einfach beliebig mit einem Cursor auf dem Spielfeld platziert, sondern m\u00fcssen von einer frei beweglichen Spielfigur in umher stehende B\u00e4ume gebaut und betreut werden. Auch Beutest\u00fccke werden nicht automatisch kassiert, sondern m\u00fcssen rechtzeitig von euch aufgehoben werden, da sie sonst verschwinden. Dadurch wird der Spielablauf nicht nur hektischer, sondern auch taktischer, da neben der Frontplanung auch die Wegplanung ins Gewicht f\u00e4llt. Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist in sp\u00e4teren Levels jedoch nicht ohne, so dass sich der Titel f\u00fcr ein kurzes Spielchen zwischendurch eher weniger eignet. Zudem gibt es quasi nur einen Spielmodus, Zufallslevels, regulierbare Schwierigkeitsstufen oder einen Leveleditor sucht ihr vergebens. Daf\u00fcr bietet Pixeljunk Monsters einen spa\u00dfigen Koop-Modus, der allerdings nur offline zur Verf\u00fcgung steht. Online gibt es lediglich Punkte-Ranglisten. Nichtsdestotrotz macht das Spiel absolut s\u00fcchtig. Nur schade, dass nach 21 Levels bereits Schluss ist. Bis ihr alle Herausforderungen gemeistert habt, vergeht dennoch einige Zeit und die Jagd nach neuen Highscores h\u00e4lt auch dar\u00fcber hinaus auf Trab.
