Egal in welcher Zeit Ihr spielt, wird diese m\u00e4chtige Einheit daf\u00fcr sorgen, dass es abseits von konventionellen K\u00e4mpfen g\u00f6ttlichen Beistand und herrliche Populus-Effekte gibt: Seuchen sorgen f\u00fcr Bev\u00f6lkerungsschwund, Erdbeben lassen Panik aufkommen und Vulkanausbr\u00fcche verbreiten nicht nur blankes Entsetzen, sondern k\u00f6nnen auch Kampfflugzeuge vom Himmel holen und ganze Armeen mit Lavabrocken aufreiben. Diese Katastrophen<\/b> sind nicht nur optisch herrlich in Szene gesetzt, sondern er\u00f6ffnen spielerisch eine Menge gemeiner Strategien – Multiplayer-Duelle gewinnen so einen ganz eigenen, hinterh\u00e4ltigen Reiz: Der geschickte Einsatz eines einzelnen unheilbringenden Propheten im Kernland eines Widersachers kann das Schlachtengl\u00fcck wenden.

Und vier Dinge werden Age of Kings<\/i>-Spieler schmerzlich vermissen: Marktplatz, Alarmglocke, Turmbemannung und K\u00f6nigsmord: Wieso kann ich mit meinen \u00fcbersch\u00fcssigen Rohstoffen nicht handeln? Bei Ressourcenknappheit kommt man schnell in Verlegenheit. Warum muss ich meine Zivilisten manuell in Kasernen verfrachten – Sirenen und Bunker h\u00e4tten wenigstens in der Moderne drin sein sollen. Wieso kann ich T\u00fcrme nicht mit Bogensch\u00fctzen verst\u00e4rken oder Mauern bemannen? Bei Gefechten sorgen sch\u00f6ne Rauch- und Explosionseffekte<\/b> f\u00fcr die n\u00f6tige Kulisse und Erdbeben oder Vulkane sind eine reine Augenweide. Auch die belebte Landschaft<\/b> kann sich sehen lassen: Unter der azurblauen Meeresoberfl\u00e4che verbergen sich Fischschw\u00e4rme, B\u00e4ume wiegen sich im Wind, Giraffen grasen und Tiger streifen anmutig durch die Wildnis. Hinzu kommt ein Technologiebaum, der erschreckend gigantische Ausma\u00dfe annimmt – Genre-Fans werden mit der Zunge schnalzen, Einsteiger werden sich an so manche Mathe-Stunde erinnert f\u00fchlen. Trotzdem haben die Stainless Steel Studios<\/i> diese Masse mit gen\u00fcgend Klasse verbunden: Durchdachte Kampagnen, die sehr gute Gegner-KI und eine Steuerung mit allem Komfort machen die 3D-K\u00e4mpfe \u00fcberschaubar.
