Eigentlich ist Konamis Suikoden-Reihe eine meiner Lieblingsrollenspielserien. Den Erstling hatte ich seinerzeit geradezu vergöttert. Doch nach dem eher mauen vierten Teil ließ die Sympathie merklich nach. Entsprechend gering waren dann auch meine Erwartungen, als ausgerechnet ein auf Suikoden IV basierendes Taktik-RPG angekündigt wurde. Aber ist Suikoden Tactics alias Rhapsodia, wie es im japanischen Original heißt, wirklich nur ein strategisch gefärbter Aufguss des bis dato schwächsten Sprosses der Serie oder verhilft es ihr am Ende gar zu neuem Glanz?

Eigentlich ist der Ball ja bloß rund. Aber Konami vollbringt jedes Jahr das Kunststück, ihn noch einen Tick runder zu machen. Bisher haben es die Japaner mit erschreckender Konstanz geschafft, die erfolgreiche Serie immer so zu verbessern, dass selbst Kenner aufs Neue überrascht werden. Auch dieses Jahr darf gestaunt werden: Pro Evolution Soccer 5 spielt sich trotz kleiner Macken noch packender, unberechenbarer und authentischer.

Schauten heimische Rollenspielfans beim dritten und wohl auch besten Teil der hierzulande leider eher unpopulären Suikoden-Reihe noch in die Röhre, hat Suikoden IV endlich wieder den Weg nach Europa geschafft. Traurigerweise markiert der jüngste Ableger jedoch den Tiefpunkt der epischen Heldensaga, was Fans der Serie aber nicht davon abhalten sollte, die wohl umfangreichste Party der RPG-Welt zu vereinen.
