Auf der Karriereleiter

Dieses Jahr warten 18 Spielmodi auf Euch: Neben Team-Turnieren sind viele kleine Wettbewerbe wie z.B. Best Ball oder das Shoot-Out enthalten, bei dem der schlechteste Golfer ausscheidet, oder die Tour Challenge, bei der Ihr nacheinander 15 Aufgaben meistern müsst. Herzstück der diesjährigen Golftour ist allerdings der neue Karriere-Modus, der für ordentlich Langzeitmotivation sorgt:

Als Nobody steigt Ihr in der Amateur-Klasse ein und spielt Euch im Laufe der Zeit bis an die Weltspitze. Doch bis dato ist viel Übung angesagt, denn Eure Fähigkeiten in Sachen Schlagweite, Präzision oder Putt sind äußerst bescheiden. Erst, wenn Ihr in kleinen Herausforderungen und Matches Geld gewinnt, lassen sich die Prozentwerte hochschrauben.

Ein Monat voller Matches

Im Spieler-Editor könnt Ihr zunächst eine Vielzahl an Merkmalen wie Körperbau, Outfit und Gesicht für den kommenden Golf-Star festlegen – auch weibliche Golfer sind dabei. Nachdem Ihr einen Charakter erstellt habt, geht`s an die Turnierplanung. Jeder Monat erscheint als Kalenderblatt mit bestimmten Events, an denen Ihr teilnehmen könnt. __NEWCOL__Hier zeigt sich PGA Tour 2003 höchst abwechslungsreich: Manchmal geht es um den weitesten Schlag, manchmal um den besten von drei Putt-Versuchen, um kleine Mini-Turniere oder gar ganze Kurse, die man im Team mit einem Computer-Golfer absolviert.

Seid Ihr erfolgreich, winken Preisgelder, die Ihr mit geschicktem Wetteinsatz noch in die Höhe treiben könnt. Natürlich könnt Ihr auch in aller Seelenruhe auf diversen Trainings-Plätzen jeden Schlag üben. Am Ende des ersten Monats steht dann das erste große 18-Loch-Turnier an, bei dem Ihr unter die Top 35 kommen müsst, um in die Profi-Klasse aufzusteigen.

Spezialschläge machen den Meister

Spätestens hier wird`s dann schon schwerer, denn erstens sind die Gegner deutlich besser und zweitens sind die Kurse anspruchsvoller. Einfache Geradeaus-Schläge müssen ab und an von besonderen Schlägen ergänzt werden. Doch die Spielbalance ist so gut, dass immer neue Spezialschläge freigeschaltet werden, die Ihr gegen ein wenig Kleingeld und eine Übungslektion in Euer Repertoire aufnehmen könnt.
