Fazit

Sword of Etheria sieht zwar hässlich aus, klingt teils extrem grausam und ist schon nach wenigen Stunden passé, aber das originelle und stylische Kampfsystem verdient auf jeden Fall Lob. Schade nur, dass sich das muntere Gegnerjonglieren viel zu schnell abnutzt und auch sonst einfach zu wenig Tiefe geboten wird, um mit zugedrückten Augen und Ohren eine Empfehlung für das skurrile Metzeltrio auszusprechen. Trotz netter Move-Facetten und Charakterverbesserungen macht sich einfach zu schnell Langeweile breit. Weder Story und Charaktere, noch Gegner- und Leveldesign oder Spielverlauf können dauerhaft Akzente setzen. Zudem wirkt der Titel für ein Vollpreisspiel viel zu schlicht und mickrig, um gegen weitaus hochkarätigere und mittlerweile trotzdem günstigere Konkurrenten wie God of War, Onimusha oder Devil May Cry eine Chance zu haben. Eine interessante Idee allein, macht halt noch lange kein gutes Spiel.
