Super Dodge Ball Advance bringt Euch den Kampf-Schulsport “Völkerball” auf den Minischirm des Gameboy Advance. Zwei Mannschaften stehen sich gegenüber und versuchen durch Treffen und Abwerfen des Gegners das Spiel für sich zu entscheiden. Wie gut es UbiSoft gelungen ist, den Sporthallenklassiker umzusetzen, den es auch schon in grauer Konsolenvorzeit für das SNES gab, lest Ihr im folgenden Test.

Gameplay

Völkerball ist also eine professionelle Sportart geworden: Der Traum, so meint Ubi Soft, ein Profi-Dodge-Ball-Spieler zu werden, ist auf der Welt genauso verbreitet wie der Traum irgendein anderer Athlet zu werden. Ihr kämpft um den Titel der Weltmeisterschaft und, solltet Ihr diese gewinnen, so werden die Dream Teams freigeschaltet, die Euch weitere Herausforderungen bieten.

Das Ziel im Meisterschafts-Modus ist, das Turnier gegen Teams aus aller Welt zu gewinnen und das Team Nr. 1 zu werden. Ist das geschafft, winkt die Herausforderung gegen die “Dream Teams” zu spielen. Ein weiterer Modus ist der Galerie-Modus: Hier kann man sich seinen Gegner aussuchen und studieren, gegen den man antreten will.
Im Versus-Modus kann ein Einzelspiel gegen eine beliebige Mannschaft bestritten werden; entweder gegen den Computer oder per GameLink-Kabel gegen einen menschlichen Herausforderer.

Das Konfigurationsmenü bietet die Möglichkeit, den allgemeinen Schwierigkeitsgrad (Angriffsstärke, Verteidigung, Mobilität) und die Schwierigkeit Superwürfe auszuführen einzustellen. Vor dem eigentlichen Spiel lässt sich dann auch die Aufstellungsart unser Mannschaft wählen.

So ist zum Beispiel eine defensive Aufstellung möglich, bei der alle Spieler am Rande des Feldes positioniert sind, oder eine Geschützaufstellung. Eine Formation mit drei Defensivspielern zum Abfangen des Balles und einem kraftvollen Werfer für den Angriff. Jeder der Spieler besitzt zehn Eigenschaften über die Ihr Euch individuell informieren könnt.
Dazu gehören beispielsweise Wurfstärke, Wurfkontrolle, Beweglichkeit, Sprung, Fangen, Ausdauer und andere. Hinzu kommt der Spielername, der sich eben so wie unser Teamname nach Eueren Wünschen andern lässt.
