Fazit

S.L.A.I. ist eine gelungene Weiterentwicklung von Phantom Crash, welche die Schwächen des Originals in fast jeder Hinsicht ausgemerzt hat. Zwar wirkt die Grafik nach wie vor recht unspektakulär und der Spielverlauf vergleichsweise schlicht, aber der Kampf um Preisgelder, Mech-Bauteile und Erfahrungspunkte sorgt jetzt für wesentlich mehr Motivation. Auch der neue Online-Modus wurde vorbildlich integriert – schade nur, dass man bis auf ein paar hart gesottene Japaner so gut wie keine Gegenspieler findet… Der nur noch zu zweit spielbare Splitscreen-Modus ist leider keine wirkliche Alternative mehr. Mit dem unkomplizierten Story-Modus hat man aber trotz belangloser Rahmenhandlung eine ganze Weile seinen Spaß und freut sich über immer leistungsfähigere Mechs, eine an fast alle Bedürfnisse anpassbare Steuerung und eine gelungene Musikeinbindung, bei der ihr bis zu 90 abwechslungsreiche Lizenz-Songs erwerben und in Play-Listen organisieren könnt. Angesichts des günstigen Preises können weniger Technik besessene Mech-Piloten also ruhig zugreifen – vielleicht ist dann auch online irgendwann mal mehr los.
