Fazit

Das hab ich nun davon – ich hatte mich echt auf die Sega Classics gefreut, der erste Eindruck (mit Golden Axe) war entsprechend schockierend: WTF??!? Auf dem Papier klang das »2D in 3D«-Konzept echt gut, in der Praxis ist der Grafikhammer tödlicher als bei den Game Gear-Umsetzungen der Sonic Gems. Ist dieser Niederschlag überwunden, machen die ollen Kamellen teilweise wirklich noch einen Heidenspaß – gerade zu zweit. Aber manche, gerade Virtua Racing, Bonanza Bros oder Monaco GP, sind wirklich sehr schlecht gealtert, durch den Optik-Murks teilweise sogar mehr als nötig. In 2D (jedenfalls da, wo nötig) wären die Sega Classics eine echt gute Retro-Compilation geworden. Mit etwas Bonuskram (wie z.B. den als Bonus beiliegenden Originalen) sogar eine wirklich gute. So ist sie nur Mittelmaß für idealerweise blinde Fans. Taub sollten sie aufgrund der teilweise grauenhaft neu arrangierten Musik auch sein. Und nicht sehr nostalgisch veranlagt sowieso.

  2. Sehe ich auch so! Habe ebenfalls die NTSC-Version und war eigentlich positiv überrascht! Natürlich hätte ich sehr gerne, z.B. als Zusatz-Feature, die Oldie-Games in Original-Grafik gehabt. Doch der Look der meisten Games hat mich sehr angesprochen. Vor allem Out Run und Virtua Racing - weswegen ich mir diese Collection auch zugelegt habe - sind gut gelungen und vor allem sehr schnell: Gerade bei Out Run ist das Geschwindigkeitsgefühl sogar viel besser als beim Original Automatenspiel...!
    Wer also in erster Linie daran interessiert ist, diese beiden Games auf der PS2 spielen zu wollen, kann getrost zulangen! Die Grafik ist ok, der Look meiner Meinung nach auch... Die Steuerung ist gut, die Belegung sinnvoll. Das Geschwindigkeitsgefühl ist sogar super!

  3. ich habe die US-Version ja schon einige Tage. Sicherlich haben die neuen 3D Fassungen Mängel, keine Frage. Aber wer sich die Originale noch mal anschaut (und stattdessen nicht in falschen Erinnerungen schwelgt), wird feststellen, dass das auch keine Granaten sind - nach heutigen Gesichtspunkten. Mir gefallen Out run, Virtua Racing und Fantasy zone in der Neufassung deutlich besser. Die anderen sind IMO etwa gleich gut - wenn man akzeptiert, das alte Tipps und Kniffe aufgrund der Neuprogrammierung nicht immer funzen. Es spielt sich alles ein bisschen anders. Auf jeden Fall hat sich SEGS ja Mühe gegeben, den Spielen einen modernen Anstrich zu geben. Die alten Games als Emulation laufen zu lassen, wäre ja viel einfacher gewesen...
