Fazit

Wer Filme wie The Wild Bunch, die Django-Serie sowie Clint Eastwood-Streifen favorisiert, wird nicht um Red Dead Revolver herum kommen. Gespickt mit einschlägigen Zitaten, Mythen und Klischees, verpackt in eine nicht gerade herausragende, aber in sich stimmige und herrlich staubige Grafik und untermalt von einem famosen Soundtrack, kommt von der ersten Minute an feines Wildwest-Feeling auf. Allerdings wirken die Verbindungen der verschiedenen Spielstrukturen nicht immer stimmig – so ist das Herumlaufen in Brimstone eher ein Lückenfüller als ein Spielspaß förderndes Element. Dafür bekommen Einzelspieler sauber inszenierte Action im Sam Peckinpah bzw. Sergio Leone-Look, die einen bis zum Ende motiviert. Für Multiplayer-Gelage empfiehlt sich Red Dead Revolver allerdings nur eingeschränkt: zahlreiche Charaktere, das Poker-System und variantenreiche Kampfarenen können nicht verschleiern, dass die Spielmodi nur gehobenen Standard darstellen und auf Dauer wenig motivieren können – hier hätte ein Online-Modus Wunder gewirkt. Unter dem Strich bleibt ein Titel, der dem Wildwest-Genre endlich einmal gerecht wird und ähnlich wie Rise to Honor für Hongkong-Filme eine würdige Hommage an Sergio Leone, Sam Peckinpah, Enzo Castellari & Co darstellt.

  1. Habe mir "Red Dead Revolver" vor einiger Zeit im PSN Store gekauft. Ich muss schon sagen, das Spiel ist, im Gegensatz zu den GTA Teilen, erstaunlich gut gealtert. Der Stil (Rauschfilter etc.) ist einfach zeitlos und macht die wahrscheinlich extrem texturschwache Grafik auch für heutige Augen noch erträglich.
    Die Story ist halt klassische Italo Western Kost, wer auf Dreck und Gewalt steht kommt auf seine Kosten.
    Das einzige was wohl heute etwas veraltet wirkt ist die nicht ganz so genau funktionierende Deckungs Mechanik und der happige Schwierigkeitsgrad stellenweise (als Gamer ist man sowas ja heute nicht mehr besonders gewohnt...).
    Auch nach "Red Dead Redemption" lohnt es sich "Revolver" mal anzusehen. Stark unterschätztes Spiel von Rockstar meiner Meinung nach.
