Grafik

Die Grafikengine ist extrem leistungsfähig und bietet unter anderem Wettereffekte, nahtlose Übergänge von Innen- und Außendarstellung, sowie große Sichtweite. Und dabei läuft alles gnadenlos flüssig. Man hat nie das Gefühl, sich auf einem eingegrenzten Areal zu bewegen und kann manchmal nur schwer den Drang, einfach mal bis zum Ende der Welt zu laufen, unterdrücken.
Grafik-Puristen werden anmerken, dass die Landschaftstexturen nicht in die Unreal-Klasse vordringen können, doch das ist wohl der Preis für die doch noch recht moderaten Anforderungen, die das Spiel ans System stellt.
Auch die Figuren hätten etwas genauer dargestellt werden können, bieten aber dennoch überdurchschnittliche Texturen und bewegen sich recht realistisch. Dazu gesellen sich kleine Schmankerl wie Einschusslöcher, schöne Explosionen und nette Waffeneffekte. Während eine Kugel z.B. Holz durchschlägt, prallt sie von Metall, den Gesetzen der Physik folgend, mit einem kleinen Funkenschlag ab.
Auch die Zwischensequenzen werden in der Spielgrafik dargestellt und sorgen für zusätzliche Dramatik.

Sound

Die Musik, die das ganze Spiel unterlegt, aber auch optional abschaltbar ist, ist sehr stark an einschlägige Filme angelegt und trägt einiges zur Spannung bei, auch wenn sie nicht dynamisch ist, d.h. sich dem Spielverlauf anpasst. Dafür bekommt man aber sehr gut klingende Waffen und eine gute (englische) Sprachausgabe. Auch die sonstigen Sound- und Explosionseffekte sind überaus gelungen.

  1. Trotz immer besser werdender Grafik kommt bis heute kein Spiel an IGI ran. Nichtmal der Nachfolger. Projekt IGI ist wohl ein einmaliges Spiel und ich bedaures es bis heute, dass es kein SDK für das Spiel gbt.

  5. Das Genre der sogenannten Taktik-Shooter erfreut sich mittlerweile immenser Beliebtheit. Bisher eigentlich immer auf Team-Arbeit ausgelegt (Rogue Spear, Swat 3), beschreiten die Jungs von Innerloop andere Wege, und schicken den Spieler auf gefährliche Solo-Missionen.
