Mitte der 90er Jahre erlebte mit Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure einer der Spiele-Klassiker schlechthin seine Auferstehung auf den 16-Bit-Maschinen SNES und Mega Drive. Ein paar Jahre später wird Pitfall Harry wieder zum Leben erweckt um sich auf Nintendos Handheld durch den Dschungel zu kämpfen und allerlei garstigem Getier den Garaus zu machen. Ob sich das immergrüne Spielprinzip auch auf den GBA retten konnte, erfahrt Ihr in unserem Test.

Harry ist verschwunden

Pitfall Harry, der Held zahlloser Dschungelabenteuer, ist entführt worden. Doch das ist kein großes Problem. Denn Harry Junior hat von seinem Vater den Abenteuerdrang geerbt und macht sich auf den Weg.

Alles wie gehabt

Eines muss man den Jungs von Pipedream Interactive/Majesco lassen: Sie haben eine adäquate Umsetzung des 16-Bit-Klassikers auf Nintendos Handheld gezaubert.
Leider haben sie dabei auch die Schwächen und Probleme der SNES/Mega Drive-Versionen übernommen.
Es macht anfänglich auch eine Menge Spaß, sich durch die zahlreichen Levels zu hüpfen, zu schwingen und zu kämpfen.

Doch das komplexe Leveldesign – der zweidimensionale Dschungel wird in mehreren vor- bzw. hintereinander liegenden Ebenen durchforstet- sorgt auf dem kleinen Bildschirm häufig für Probleme.
Man weiß einfach nicht mehr genau, wo es weiter geht und muss sich durch diverse Versuche -von denen viele scheitern- erst einen optimalen Weg heraus filtern. Wäre ja alles nicht so schlimm, doch selbst hartgesottene Jump&Run-Fans werden das Fehlen einer Speicher-Funktion schmerzlich vermissen.
