Fazit

Hier wird nichts zerrissen: Auch zwanzig Jahre später und auf der Nintendo Switch macht Paper Mario: Die Legende vom Äonentor noch eine hervorragende Figur. Die Papier-Präsentation ist dank aufgehübschter Farben und Texturen, einer höheren Detaildichte und klaren Kanten schicker als je zuvor; der Soundtrack fängt die Identität des Originals ein, ersetzt eingestaubte Elektroniksounds jedoch durch ein umfangreiches und angemessen bombastisches Orchester. Abseits der Rundumsanierung glänzt Paper Mario mit den bekannten Qualitäten: Eine nette Story mit vielen skurrilen und charmanten Charakteren, abwechslungsreichen Schauplätzen, einer angenehmen Mischung aus Rätseln und Kämpfen, wobei letztere dank großer Gegnervielfalt und aktiven QTE-Interaktionen nie langweilen. Da ist es doppelt schade, dass Nintendo auch die Altlasten mit in die Neuauflage gehievt hat: Das ewige Hin- und Hergelaufe zieht das Pacing in Mitleidenschaft und bläht das Spiel unnötig auf, die Kämpfe sind größtenteils zu einfach und das Inventar viel zu klein. Was bleibt ist ein sehr unterhaltsames Abenteuer mit vermeidbaren Makeln, das Fans des Originals nun in neuem Gewand und Neulinge endlich auf aktueller Hardware genießen können.

Wir nehmen kein Blatt vor den Mund: Die Neuauflage begeistert in allen Punkten des Originals und legt dank zeitgemäßer Präsentation und modernisierter Musik sogar noch eins drauf. Die Altlasten in Form von winzigem Inventar und Pacing-Problemen dank zu vielem Hin- und Hergelaufe hätte man sich allerdings sparen können.

  5. Ich denke, es wird an den durchweg überraschend hochaufgelösten Texturen und den Reflektionen liegen, aber ich hab an sich kein Plan von nix. yopparai kennt sich aus, aber der hat dazu glaub ich noch nix gesagt :ugly:
