NHL 2002 (Sport) – NHL 2002

Alljährlich geht die NHL-Serie von Electronic Arts in eine neue generalüberholte Runde. Pünktlich zum Start der amerikanischen NHL-Saison ist das Spiel jetzt auch bei uns erhältlich. Kritiker der Serie sprechen dabei jedoch immer nur von einem Spielerkader-Update. Ob die Kritiker recht behalten und ob sich NHL 2002 auch für Besitzer der Ausgabe 2001 lohnt, erfahrt Ihr in unserem Test. Also dann: Schlittschuhe angeschnallt und ab aufs Eis!

Alles neu macht der Oktober?

Electronic Arts hängt der Ruf an, bei den alljährlichen Neuauflagen ihrer erfolgreichen Sportspiele nur Veränderungen im Detail durchzuführen.
Ich sage jetzt einmal: Wieso auch nicht? Warum ein Spiel von Grund auf umkrempeln, wenn der Vorgänger -wie im Falle NHL 2001– ein absoluter Hammer war?
Dann lieber um ein paar neue Feinheiten ergänzen, die das Spiel noch interessanter und spielenswerter machen – und genau das hat Electronic Arts getan.

Daher werden sich Fans der Serie schnell zurechtfinden. Denn neben den üblichen und bekannten Spielmodi (Freundschaftsspiel, Saison, Playoffs, Turniere) und der bekannten konfigurierbaren Steuerung hat sich grundlegend wenig getan – mit Ausnahme des motivierenden Karrieremodus.
Natürlich wurden die Mannschaftskader auf den neuesten Stand gebracht und auch das Angebot der wählbaren Nationalmannschaften wurde aufgestockt.

Kenn ich doch schon! Weit gefehlt!

Auch auf dem Eis hat sich nicht viel getan. Oder doch? Wie man´s nimmt. Das Pass-Spiel läuft flüssig wie eh und je, die Checks machen immer noch eine Menge Spaß und die Intelligenz der Gegner und Mannschaftskameraden ist bis zum Torwart variabel einstellbar.
Überhaupt muss man sagen, dass die Optionen hinsichtlich der Spieltiefe und der Schwierigkeit keine Wünsche offen lassen. Egal ob Ausdauer, Checkhärte oder Torwart-Boost – um nur einige zu nennen: Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten ohne Ende.
