Mit NBA Live 2001 bringt Electronic Arts auch das jährliche Update zur Basketball-Reihe auf den Markt. Seit dem Vorgänger hat sich scheinbar nicht vieles verändert: Grafik, Sound und Kommentar sind fast identisch mit der Vorgänger-Version. Ob der Spielspaß dennoch begeistern kann, und NBA Live 2001 weiterhin eine Empfehlung in Sachen Basketball auf der PSOne bleibt, erfahrt Ihr in unserem Test!

Gameplay

Wie gewohnt, sind alle Spielmodi des Vorgängers enthalten (Saison, Playoffs, One-on-One). Neu hinzugekommen ist der NBA Challenge Mode; in diesem könnt Ihr Punkte gewinnen, mit denen sich neue Spieler, coole Frisuren sowie verschiedene Fähigkeiten freispielen lassen. Um diese zu bekommen, müsst Ihr entweder ein One-on-One gewinnen oder aber zehn Assists vorweisen. Wahlweise tritt der Spieler in einer ganzen Saison an, und probiert so seine Mannschaft zum Erfolg zu führen (die Spielaufstellung kann beliebig geändert und den eigenen Wünschen angepasst werden, Ihr könnt auch neue Spieler auf dem Transfermarkt erwerben). Erscheint Euch eine gesamte Saison zu lang, könnt Ihr auch gleich in die Playoffs einsteigen. Im One-on-One tretet Ihr gegen die US-Superstars wie Jordan & Co an und probiert diese im Einzelmatch zu schlagen.

Natürlich wurden alle Teams auf den neuesten Stand gebracht. Anfänger können wie immer zuerst im Training und in Freundschaftsspielen ihr Können verbessern, wie auch in den Vorgängern kann der Spieler zwischen Arcade und Simulations Modus wählen. Der Arcade Modus ist für Leute gedacht, die Basketball im Stile eines NBA Jam mochten; dort werden praktisch alle Regeln außer Kraft gesetzt, es darf gefoult werden, ohne dass das Spiel sofort unterbrochen wird. Der interessantere Modus ist wie immer der Simulations-Modus, der wie immer verschiedene Schwierigkeitsgrade bietet und so Anfänger nicht gleich überfordert.

Die Steuerung ist wie immer sehr gut gelungen und auch schnell und einfach zu erlernen. NBA Live 2001 ist noch immer eines der am besten steuerbaren Basketball-Spiele auf dem Markt. Auch Anfänger kommen schnell mit der einfach gehaltenen Steuerung zurecht. Die Steuerung wurde gegenüber dem Vorgänger leicht überarbeitet und geht nun noch einfacher von der Hand.
