Fazit

Ich halte Layers of Fear immer noch für eines der besten Werke von Bloober Team, obwohl sich die Formel mit all den Psycho-Effekten durch den Nachfolger, aber auch andere Titel des Studios wie Blair Witch, mittlerweile ziemlich totgelaufen hat. Jetzt in VR in das Anwesen des wahnsinnigen Malers zurückzukehren, hat Licht- und Schattenseiten: Obwohl ich das Spiel und seine „Tricks“ mittlerweile auswendig kenne, mag ich immer noch die beklemmende Atmosphäre, die man dank VR noch intensiver erlebt. Dem gegenüber stehen zahlreiche Kompromisse, die man für die PSVR-Umsetzung bei Grafik, Beleuchtung und der Steuerung via Move eingehen musste. Schade zudem, dass es für Käufer der Originals kein günstiges oder gar kostenloses VR-Upgrade gibt und man im Gegensatz zur Switch-Umsetzung nicht die Erweiterung Inheritance mit dazu gepackt hat. Persönlich ziehe ich daher sogar die flache 2D-Version vom PC dieser abgespeckten und etwas halbherzigen VR-Variante für PS4 vor.
