Fazit

Horizon: Zero Dawn habe ich einst auf der PlayStation 4 gespielt und mich damals schon in die spannende, faszinierend ungewöhnliche Spielwelt verliebt, mich aber über die Controller-Steuerung hin und wieder doch geärgert – ich bin nunmal jemand, der lieber mit Maus zielt. Umso mehr habe ich mich über die spätere PC-Portierung gefreut, auch wenn diese zum Release bei weitem nicht ausgereift war und unter vielen Problem gelitten hat.

Bei Forbidden West ist das zum Glück anders. Die PC-Version ist zwar nicht unbedingt perfekt, aber kommt dem schon ziemlich nah. Man merkt einfach, dass mit Nixxes echte Experten am Werk waren und deren Kauf durch Sony eine schlaue Entscheidung war. Die Performance ist angesichts der prächtigen Optik absolut gelungen, die Optionen mannigfaltig und mit Maus und Tastatur spielt sich Horizon Forbidden West wirklich gut. Dass das Team sogar speziell für das Steam Deck einige Anpassungen vorgenommen hat, ist ebenfalls lobenswert.

Spielerisch liefert Forbidden West derweil das ab, was es schon vor zwei Jahren auf der PlayStation 5 gab: Ein großes Open World-Abenteuer mit tollen Kämpfen, die sich aufgrund sinnvoller Ergänzungen und überarbeiteten Fähigkeitenbäumen noch geschmeidiger anfühlen. Lediglich die Hauptstory erreicht nicht das Niveau des ersten Teils, bietet aber genügend Grundlage für einen dritten Teil, der sich mit ziemlicher Sicherheit in Entwicklung befindet. Immerhin hat sich Aloy mit gerade einmal zwei Spielen zu einem der repräsentativen und wirtschaftlichen Aushängeschilder der PlayStation entwickelt.
