Nicht allzu lange ist es her, da bescherte uns Massive Entertainment ein Strategiespiel der etwas anderen Art. Wie man es bisher aus anderen Strategiespielen kennt, steht der Basisbau und das Ressourcen-Management im Vordergrund. Dies ist bei Ground Control nicht der Fall, denn Ihr sollt Euch ganz auf den Kampf konzentrieren und die dazugehörige Taktik planen. Jetzt, ein halbes Jahr später, steht Massive Entertainment mit einem Add-On zum Strategie-Hit Ground Control vor der Tür, welches nicht nur mit dem Preis beeindrucken kann.

Spielbarkeit/ Gameplay

In Sachen Story bleibt alles beim Alten: Der “Orden der Neuen Dämmerung” und die “Crayven Corporation” stehen nach wie vor im Konflikt gegenüber und sind auf der Suche nach weiteren Artefakten. Allerdings ist eine neue Truppe hinzugekommen, die “Phoenix-Fraktion”.

Das Waffenarsenal wurde um einige nützliche Waffen erweitert, des Weiteren könnt Ihr auch mit neuen Vehikeln in den Kampf ziehen. Dazu gehören unter anderem auch explosive Granaten und Mechs. Diese erleichtern einem das Leben im Kampf um die Artefakte erheblich, können aber genauso gefährlich für die eigenen Einheiten sein.

Insgesamt gibt es 15 neue Singleplayer-Missionen, die alle durch ein Briefing eingeleitet werden. Ein bisschen Enttäuschung kommt allerdings bei der Speicherfunktion auf. Denn das Speichern ist nur nach jeder vollendeten Mission möglich.

Die Steuerung bleibt unverändert leicht zugänglich. Mit den Pfeiltasten könnt Ihr über die Map fahren und mit dem Mausrad den Zoom steuern.

Auf den Basenbau wurde wie im Hauptprogramm auch komplett verzichtet. Stattdessen könnt Ihr ganz einfach ein Landungsschiff mit Einheiten an einem speziellen Einsatzort schicken und somit schnell und einfach in den Kampf ziehen. Denn die Action steht ganz klar im Vordergrund.

Die wichtigste Neuerung ist wohl der “Skirmish-Modus” – endlich kann man sich auf Zufallskarten nach Herzenslust austoben; unbegrenzter Spaß ist somit garantiert. Außerdem ist auch der erstaunliche Preis zu beachten. Heutzutage kostet ein gutes Add-On schon um die 30-50DM, was auch nicht immer gelungen ist.
Anders bei Ground Control: Dark Conspiracy, denn hier verlangen die Entwickler gerade mal 10DM. Ziemlich wenig, wenn man bedenkt was das Paket alles beinhaltet, und dazu kommen ja noch Herstellungskosten. Respekt!
