Fazit

Godzilla Save the Earth hat ein gewaltiges Problem: den Vorgänger Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee! Auf den ersten Blick ähneln sich die beiden Titel wie ein Ei dem anderen. Doch wo der erste Teil noch mit interessantem, wenngleich etwas zähem Gameplay aufwarten konnte, ist die Luft bei Save the Earth raus! Und auch der zweite Blick offenbart wenig Neues und kann nicht verschleiern, dass sich außer den Mini-Games wenig getan hat – die Prügeleien der Filmmonster laufen sogar noch langsamer ab als im Vorläufer! Grafisch ist Godzilla mit aufwändig gestalteten Monstern und netten Animationen, aber dafür auch mit schwach texturierten Städten ausgestattet. Hinzu kommt ein kruder Soundmix, in dem Geräusche, schwache Musik und einstürzende Gebäude in einem merkwürdigen Akustikbrei kaum auseinander zu halten sind. Insofern ist der Titel nur wahren Godzilla-Fans ans Herz zu legen, die entweder Destroy noch nicht im Archiv haben oder wirklich alles rund um das Jubiläums-Monster ihr Eigen nennen wollen. Für Prügelfans gibt es landauf, landab bessere Alternativen.
