Gangs of Sherwood: Unterwegs als Robin von Locksley

Zu Beginn wähle ich aus vier Charakteren – Robin von Locksley, Maid Marian, Little John oder Bruder Tuck – und lande direkt im Tutorial. Ursprünglich wollte ich einen Controller nutzen, gebe nach kurzer Zeit aber auf, weil sich mein Wurfanker einfach nicht werfen lässt. So spiele ich mit Maus und Tastatur, das funktioniert zumindest und die Bewegungen fühlen sich flüssig an – in der Wildnis benutze ich teilweise besagten Anker, um meine Figur in die Luft zu schleudern, verwende eine Seilrutsche oder führe rasante Sprünge aus, um Platforming-Passagen zu meistern.

 

 

Gangs of Sherwood kommt nicht mit einer offenen Welt daher, sondern lässt mich alles von einem Ort namens Major Oak aus steuern. Dort starte ich meine Missionen, kaufe neue Combos und verbessere meine Fähigkeiten. Die Geschichte wird in drei Akten erzählt, die jeweils drei Aufträge beinhalten. Wenn ich nicht sterbe, habe ich einen davon in etwa 20 Minuten erledigt. Obendrauf kommen drei weitere Kapitel, die aber wenig mit der Story und mehr mit großen Kämpfen zu tun haben.

 

Die Geschichte wird durch Zwischensequenzen erzählt und die einzelnen Figuren kommen häufig zu Wort. Manchmal sprechen sie auch, während ich schon loslaufen darf. Besonders gut gefallen mir aber die kurzen Szenen zum Einstieg jeder Mission, da hier alle agierenden Charaktere im Puppentheater dargestellt sind und auf witzige Art und Weise das Erzählte in einer kurzen Szene spielen. Generell liegt für mich der Fokus aber im restlichen Spiel weniger auf der Geschichte als auf dem Gameplay, besonders den Kämpfen.

 

Vier Kampfstile, doch keiner ist perfekt

Mit jeder Figur führe ich im Kampf Combos aus, die aus Rechts- und Linksklicken bestehen. Teilweise kommen noch Sprünge oder Sprints hinzu, doch im Grunde ist das Kampfsystem sehr simpel gehalten. Dennoch muss ich mir erstmal merken, wie ich was ausführe und bin dankbar, dass es in Major Oak einen Raum zum Üben gibt. Verschiedene Tutorials zeigen mir, wie ich meine Waffe richtig einsetze und ich kann zudem zwischen den Charakteren wechseln, um herauszufinden, wer mir am besten gefällt.

Als Robin von Locksley spiele ich eine Mischung aus Nah- und Fernkampf, da ich mehrmals mit der Faust zuschlage (drei Rechtsklicks), um dann besonders starke Pfeile abzuschießen (vier Linksklicks). Zielen muss ich nur grob, das genaue Aiming übernimmt das Spiel für mich. Lediglich für Kopftreffer, die doppelten Schaden anrichten, muss ich mich mehr anstrengen. Da die Gefechte schnell und hektisch ablaufen, ist es manchmal gar nicht so leicht, in Ruhe zu fokussieren, wohin mein Pfeil fliegt.

 

 

So wechsle ich von Robin zu Maid Marian, mit der ich allein aber nur schwer zurechtkomme, weil sie viel Schaden nimmt und zu wenig austeilt. Sie kämpft aus mittlerer Entfernung und hat für ein optimales Spielerlebnis definitiv einen Tank nötig, etwa Bruder Tuck oder Little John. John gefällt mir zuerst sehr gut, weil er hitzegeladene Attacken ausführt, eine hohe Verteidigung hat und sich seine Combos spannend anfühlen. Allerdings ist seine Reichweite miserabel, ich haue immer daneben und werde wütend, weshalb ich wieder zu Robin wechsle. Auch Bruder Tuck teste ich kurz an, doch er und sein Hammer sind mir viel zu langsam. Optimal ist das Erlebnis allein definitiv nicht, aber dennoch machbar. Am besten gefällt mir Gangs of Sherwood mit mindestens einem Mitspieler.

    Ja gibts den überhaupt? Ich denke, zu groß wäre da die Wunschliste und zu vielseitig die Meinungen.
    Was ist Perfektion? Man kann sie anstreben, aber wird sie nie erreichen. Das sollte einem schon bewusst sein, um auf dem Boden zu bleiben.
    Würde man von den besten Gamern eine Liste des perfekten Kampfstiles erstellen, würden sich auch noch ziemlich viele daran Stoßen und das nicht so sehen - also was soll ein perfekter Kampfstil sein?
    Für mich ist mal eine präzise Steuerung das A&O, daran scheitern schon viele Spiele. Unzählige Kombos die man sich kaum merken kann, machen auch keinen guten Kampfstil aus.
    Ich denke mal, eine breite Masse zufriedenzustellen, ist auch eine Tatsache an dem so was scheitert. Also was wollen wir, oder wer hat das Rezept das alle zufriedenstellt.
    Man kann auch darüber diskutieren ob man "zufriedenstellt" schreibt, oder "befriedigt", wenn man damit die eigene Zufriedenheit beschreiben will - ich würde das Erstere, als treffender bezeichnen...

    Naja, so Neu ist die Idee jetzt auch wieder nicht, wenn ich da besonders an Hood: Outlaw and Legends von vor 2 Jahren denke... das hatte ich damals auch gespielt und fand es ganz spaßig. Aber das hier muss wohl nicht sein.
