bis man das ursprüngliche Rechteck so stark verkleinert hat, dass man den Sieg einstreicht. Für Ü30-Leser ist das selbstverständlich eine olle Kamelle. Die haben ihre Münzen schließlich schon in dem eben beschriebenen Qix-Automaten versenkt, als die Ostmark noch in Mode war.

Wegelagerer

Aber Fortix und besonders Fortix 2 geht natürlich weiter als das ’81-er Original. Denn während man neue Grenzen zeichnet, attackieren Fledermäuse, Feuerpfeile, Kanonenkugeln, Todesdrachen und andere Gemeinheiten – berühren Projektil oder Feind den Helden oder seine unvollendete Linie, verliert man ein Leben. Zu allem Überfluss beeinflussen verschiedene Untergründe wie Meere oder Wälder des Helden Laufgeschwindigkeit und manche Mauer versperrt ihm glatt den Weg. Dann muss er zunächst Schlüssel eingrenzen, damit sich Tore öffnen. Anderswo kann er Geschütze einzäunen, die automatisch auf feindliche Türme feuern. Am Ende muss man nicht der Großteil der Karte einnehmen, sondern bestimmte, gut bewachte Punkte erobern – eine gelungene Erweiterung des Konzepts.

Kreative Grenzen

Insgesamt ist trotzdem zu wenig drin. Das Prinzip wird im Verlauf kaum erweitert; zum größten Teil kommen lediglich neue Gegner hinzu. Drei Schauplätze sind zudem recht wenig, auch wenn die Spielfelder sehr unterschiedlich aufgebaut sind. Zumindest hat man gelegentlich die Wahl zwischen verschiedenen Levels, manche sind sogar mehrere Stufen groß. Was dem Spiel dringend fehlt, ist ein Editor zum Erstellen eigener Herausforderungen. Der Langlebigkeit würde das Zurechtrücken und Onlinestellen besonders vertrackter Aufgaben jedenfalls gut tun. Immerhin gibt es eine weltweite Rangliste, in der die Gesamtpunktzahl gezählt wird. So ist man nicht nur darum bemüht, alle Levels möglichst fehlerfrei abzuschließen, sondern versucht auch Extrapunkte beim Einschließen mehreren Gegner oder Gebäude einzuheimsen.
