Wer kennt sie nicht aus seinen Kindertagen!? Die gute alte Carrera-Bahn, welche, sonntäglich im elterlichen Wohnzimmer aufgebaut, für Mutti stets nur eine Fußangel, für den Junior aber die Erfüllung seiner Rennfahrerträume war. Jetzt hat sich Publisher Take 2 dazu entschlossen, diesen Jugendtraum auch am PC Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen. Ob die Carrera-Simulation Carrera: Grand Prix genauso viel Spaß macht, wie einst das Original, und ob das Spiel gar als Weihnachtsgeschenk taugt, das erfahrt Ihr in unserer Review.

Autorennen im Sandkasten

Die Carrera-Simulation Carrera: Grand Prix bietet Euch gleich mehrere Möglichkeiten, die Welt der Modell-Rennbahnen wieder aufleben zu lassen. Zum einen ist da die Parade-Rolle als Rennwagen-Pilot. Weiter könnt Ihr Euch aber auch als Strecken-Designer oder Fahrzeug-Ingenieur versuchen.

Als Fahrer wiederum dürft Ihr im Singleplayer-Modus aus verschiedenen Renn-Modi auswählen. Im normalen Modus könnt Ihr Euch den Rennwagen, dessen Farbe, die Strecke, deren Rundenzahl und den Gegner höchst selbst aussuchen. Auch drei verschiedene Schwierigkeitsgrade von Anfänger bis Champion stehen Euch zur Auswahl. Die Strecken sind in Länge, Anspruch und Design äußerst unterschiedlich. Schließlich dürft Ihr Euch in der Werkstatt noch ein Fahrzeug aussuchen, mit dem Ihr dann fahren wollt. Sechs Rennwagen stehen zur Auswahl, darunter z.B. GT Racer und Classic Cars.

In der Werkstatt könnt Ihr dann beim Tuning Eures Renners tätig werden. Viel gibt es da nicht einzustellen, aber immerhin kann die Bodenhaftung mit Hilfe des Variablen Magnet Systems (kurz: VMS) verändert werden. Das ist wichtig, um das Ausbrechen des Wagens in engen Kurven zu verhindern. Allerdings verringert sich dadurch natürlich die Höchstgeschwindigkeit des Rennautos. Schließlich kann noch die Übersetzung geändert werden, was zu einer höheren Beschleunigung des Boliden führt. Wem das alles aber zu mühsam ist, der sollte lieber den Schnellstart-Modus wählen. Hier müsst Ihr nur noch Euren Namen und die Farbe Eures Rennautos eingeben – und los geht`s!
