Die Toy Story-Filme kann man ohne Zweifel jetzt schon zu den Klassikern des modernen Kinos zählen und auch die dazu erschienenen Spiele waren ganz passabel. Doch im Hause Disney kriegt jeder erfolgreiche Kinofilm auch einen Serien Spin-Off fürs Fernsehen. Bei Buzz Lightyear ist der Fernsehableger allerdings in keiner Weise mit den Filmen zu vergleichen.
Ob das dazu erschienene Spiel Buzz Lightyear of Star Command sich eher dem Niveau der Serie annähert, oder die Qualität der Kinofilme erreicht, versuchen wir in unserem Test zu klären.

Gameplay/Story

Die Galaxis ist wieder einmal in großer Gefahr. Der böse Imperator Zurg und seine Kumpane machen verschiedene Planeten unsicher und nur einer kann die Gefahr beseitigen: Buzz Lightyear. Zugegeben: Die Hintergrundstory ist ziemlich mager, lässt aber viele Spielmöglichkeiten zu. Denkbar wären z.B. ein Jump&Run, ein Action-Adventure oder sogar ein Ego-Shooter (Moment mal, das ist Disney – also kein Ego-Shooter).

Die Entwickler von Travellers Tales im Auftrag von Disney Interactive haben sich jedoch dazu entschieden, das Spiel zu einer Konsolenform eines Katz-und-Maus-Spieles zu machen.
Nachdem Ihr durch einen Filmausschnitt, der direkt der Serie entnommen ist, auf Eure Mission vorbereitet werdet, landet Ihr auf dem Planeten, auf dem der Schurke schon wartet. Nach einem kurzen Gespräch macht er jedoch einen langen Schuh und haut ab.
Ihr macht Euch jetzt unter Zeitdruck auf die Jagd nach ihm.
Doch ganz so einfach lassen sich Zurgs Gefolgsleute nicht fangen. Auf dem ganzen Weg warten diverse Gegner nur darauf, Euch den Garaus zu machen.
Und was macht ein Space Ranger mit wildgewordenen Robotern, Hubschraubern und Ähnlichem? Richtig! Er schickt sie mit Hilfe seiner Strahlenkanone auf den Schrottplatz. Zerlegte Gegner hinterlassen Münzen, die man gegen diverse Power-Ups, die einfach an der Strecke herumliegen, eintauschen kann.
Meist sind dies stärkere Waffen, aber es kann auch z.B. eine Smart-Bomb sein, ein Hover-Board (Zurück in die Zukunft lässt grüßen) oder ein Teleporter, der gegen ein entsprechendes Entgelt, den Weg zum Gegner stark verkürzt.
