Fazit

Auch knapp 25 Jahre nach der Premiere des Klassikers macht die Jagd nach Diamanten, Schlüsseln und Ausgängen noch Spaß. Aber Vorsicht, all ihr Jungzocker, die ihr euch von der Putzigkeit angezogen fühlt, oder all ihr Veteranen, die ihr eine nostalgische Zeitreise erhofft: Es handelt sich streng genommen nicht um ein Revival des Klassikers, sondern um eine Erweiterung, die das ursprünglich sehr simple Spiel etwas verkompliziert und damit deutlich mehr Richtung Knobler schubst. Aber das tut dem Spiel durchaus gut und gerade in den Bereichen Leveldesign sowie Steuerung kann es seine Stärken ausspielen: Was einfach beginnt, wird angenehm knifflig und Rockford lässt sich überaus intuitiv durch die Labyrinthe bewegen. Allerdings nutzt sich das immergleiche Spielziel spätestens nach ein, zwei Dutzend Edelsteinjagden ab: Man sammelt Klunker, man sucht den Ausgang. Es ist löblich, dass man das in vier kunterbunten Welten über 130 Levels machen darf, aber noch löblicher wäre es gewesen, wenn sich die Designer auch abseits von mehr Waffen, Items und Hindernissen etwas mehr kreative Gedanken hinsichtlich des Spielziels gemacht hätten. Schade ist auch, dass es weder einen Editor noch einen Online-Modus gibt. Unterm Strich wurde das gute alte Boulder Dash dennoch angenehm erweitert!
