Unreal Engine: Epic Games demonstriert “Next-Gen Games” im Showcase-Video

Zum Jahreswechsel hat Epic Games noch ein Video veröffentlicht, in dem “Next-Gen Games” gezeigt werden, welche die Unreal Engine nutzen. Aber nicht alle präsentierten Spiele sind wirklich “Next-Gen”.

Zu sehen sind Hogwarts Legacy, Der Herr der Ringe: Gollum, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Pro Evolution Soccer 2022 bzw. eFootball PES 2022, Scarlet Nexus, Ark 2, Unknown 9: Awakening, Destruction AllStars, Returnal, Black Myth: Wukong, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Outriders, The Medium, Everwild, The Callisto Protocol, Back 4 Blood, Chorus, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, Atomic Heart, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Stray, Little Devil Inside, Avowed, The Artful Escape und Ghostwire: Tokyo. Auch einige bereits veröffentlichte Titel sind dabei, und zwar Ride 4, Ghostrunner, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, The Pathless, Godfall und Fortnite.

Die aktuelle Version der Engine ist v4.26. Die Unreal Engine 5, die im Mai 2020 auf der PlayStation 5 präsentiert wurde, soll “Anfang 2021” als Preview-Version erscheinen. Ende 2021 soll die finale Version für Konsolen (Next-Gen und Current-Gen), PC, Mac, iOS und Android an den Start gehen. Spiele, die auf der Unreal Engine 4 basieren, sollen auf die Unreal Engine 5 umgestellt werden können (Aufwärtskompatibilität bzw. Vorwärtskompatibilität).

    Ich wäre beeindruckt, wenn anstatt Grafik und boom boom mal wegweisendes KI Verhalten gezeigt würde. ;)
    Alles eine Sache des eigenen Anspruchs, die Unreal Engine hat einen ausführlichen KI-Baum, den man nur nutzen muss. Optik wird halt immer das Spiel mehr verkaufen und anderes eher dafür vernachlässigt, deshalb arbeitet Epic ja auch an der UE5 nicht nur um die Grafik zu verbessern, sondern den Detailgrad auch einfacher verfügbar zu machen. So können Entwickler einfacher schicke Spiele bauen und sich mehr auf andere Dinge konzentrieren. Und ja, es gibt Spiele die auch ohne alles glänzen, aber eben auch mit dem mitessenden Auge mehr Erfolg hätten.
    Deshalb wird’s Zeit das wir endlich bei Foto-Film Realistisch ankommen dann gehts auch mit dem Rest wirklich voran. Von daher soll Epic ruhig die Grafik schnell weiterentwickeln.

    Das kommt dann, wenn die Kundschaft mehr Wert auf KI legt und nicht einfach nur auf immer schickere Optik :)
