Im vergangenen Herbst hatte Netflix im Rahmen einer Trailer-Show offiziell angekündigt, dass unter anderem eine Animationsserie zu Tomb Raider nicht nur in Entwicklung ist, sondern auch im Laufe dieses Jahres erscheinen soll. Wer darauf hingefiebert hat, hat nun die Gewissheit eines offiziellen Releasedatums.

Mit dem etwas generisch klingenden Titel Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft soll die Serie offiziell an die jüngste Videospiel-Trilogie anschließen. In einem neuen Teaser-Trailer von Netflix gibt es frische Einblicke in das nächste Abenteuer der waghalsigen Archäologin.

Ein wenig müssen wir uns allerdings noch gedulden, bis wir das Animations-Abenteuer über unsere Bildschirme flimmern lassen können. The Legend of Lara Croft wird ab dem 10. Oktober auf Netflix verfügbar sein. Dabei soll die Storyline weiter verfolgt werden, die Spieler*innen zuletzt in der Trilogie aus Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider und Shadow of the Tomb Raider erleben konnten.

Lara Croft startet auf Netflix in ihr erstes Serienabenteuer.

Nach den bisher drei Kinofilmen wird dies das erste Serienabenteuer von Videospielikone Lara Croft. Schauspielerin Hayley Atwell („Marvel’s Agent Carter“, „Mission Impossible 7“) leiht der Abenteurerin dabei im englischen Original ihre Stimme. Produziert wird die Serie unter anderem vom Studio Powerhouse Animation, die für Netflix schon mit dem Castlevania-Anime eine erfolgreiche Videospielreihe als Serie umgesetzt haben – was bei den Fans reißenden Anklang fand.

In puncto filmischer Umsetzung von Videospielen könnte 2024 auf Netflix also spektakulär fortgesetzt werden, nachdem uns Amazon Prime schon mit Fallout einen vollen Erfolg geliefert hat. Ende des Jahres erscheinen neben Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft auch die zweite Staffel zur League of Legend-Serie Arcane sowie der Witcher-Animationsfilm Sirens of the Deep auf Netflix.
