Erst vor einer Woche angekündigt, schenkt Riot Games dem Singleplayer-Titel The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story mit einem frischen Teaser-Trailer nun weitere Aufmerksamkeit.

 

Das von Digital Sun, dem Entwicklerstudio hinter dem Roguelike Moonlighter, kreierte Rollenspiel dreht sich um League of Legends-Charakter Sylas, der von den titelgebenden Mageseekern seiner Freiheit beraubt wurde. Auch im neuen Werbevideo schwört er deshalb Rache am Königreich Demacia und schreckt vor nichts zurück, um seine teuflischen Pläne in die Tat umzusetzen.

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story – Eine Rachegeschichte

Sprach man bei der ursprünglichen Ankündigung noch von einem Release im Frühling, enthält der neue Trailer zu The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story die ominösen Worte „Coming Soon“ – schon bald soll der neue Singleplayer also auf dem PC, der Nintendo Switch, der PlayStation 4 und 5 sowie der Xbox One und Xbox Series X | S landen.

Während das einminütige Video zwar die Plattformen des Spiels enthüllt, bleiben auf Gameplay gespannte Fans leider ernüchtert zurück: Der Teaser-Trailer zeigt nämlich nur eine Cinematic rund um Sylas, der in den Kerkern von Demacia hockt und sich wutentbrannt von seinen Fesseln befreit. Aus dem Gefängnis heraus kann der Kettensprenger schließlich nichts ausrichten.

So lässt sich die Story rund um Sylas‘ Rachepläne aus dem Video und seiner Hintergrundgeschichte in League of Legends zwar zusammenpuzzeln, bei der Gameplay-Komponente bleibt man bislang aber vage. Ein 2D-Pixel-Action-Rollenspiel soll The Mageseeker werden, das sich einer Top-Down-Perspektive und sicherlich auch Sylas‘ Fähigkeit, die Magie anderer zu stehlen, bedient.

Weitere Singleplayer-Pläne vom League of Legends-Entwickler

Sobald The Mageseeker dann „bald“ auf allen Plattformen erscheint, geht es danach weiter mit anderen Singleplayer-Titeln aus dem Hause Riot. Viele weitere League of Legends-Geschichten wollen noch erzählt werden, zum Beispiel mit CONV/RGENCE und A Song of Nunu. Die beiden Titel sind für den Sommer und Herbst geplant.

Erneut stehen dabei natürlich Charaktere aus dem Moba-Universum im Vordergrund, zum einen der zeitmanipulierende Rebell Ekko, zum anderen der Yeti-reitende Nunu und sein flauschiger Freund Willump. Ursprünglich hatten beide Spiele bereits letztes Jahr erscheinen sollen, bevor sie kurzfristig auf 2023 verschoben wurden.
