Die Entwicklung dieser Inhalte wird von einer Gruppe von “Projektveteranen” bei Ubisoft Massive geleitet – mit Unterstützung von Ubisoft Bukarest. Mit dem nächsten großen Update soll ein neuer Spielmodus eingeführt werden, den es bisher im Spiel nicht gab. In Kombination mit diesem Modus sollen neue Wege ausgelotet werden, mit denen man den Agenten voranbringen kann, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf der Erhöhung der Build-Vielfalt und der Überlebensfähigkeit liegen wird. Die Entwicklung dieses Updates befindet sich aktuell in einem frühen Stadium und wird mehrere Monate in Anspruch nehmen. Daher wird das nächste große Update frühestens Ende 2021 erscheinen. Ob der neue Spielmodus kostenpflichtig sein wird oder nicht, wurde übrigens nicht erwähnt.
Während die Entwickler an der nächsten Inhaltsaktualisierung arbeiten, werden frühere Saisons, die während des zweiten Jahres (Warlords of New York) veröffentlicht wurden, neu gestartet. Die nächste Saison (Saison 5) wird also eine Wiederholung von Saison 1 sein – mit samt Belohnungen und Sammelobjekten. Es wird auch regelmäßige Ligen, globale Events und neue Bekleidungs-Events geben. Kleinere Patches/Updates sollen ebenfalls folgen.
Außerdem haben die Entwickler auf das Jahr 2020 zurückgeblickt und melden, dass sie bis Ende des vergangenen Jahrs mehr als 40 Millionen (einzigartige) Spieler in The Division und The Division 2 gezählt hätten, wobei unklar ist, ob auch Teilnehmer von kostenlosen Probe-Aktionen mitgezählt wurden.

Wenn dieses Update erst Ende des Jahres erscheinen wird dann bedeutet es dass Massive im Grunde das Spiel fast 1 Jahr lang nicht wirklich mit Content bereichern wird und das im dritten Jahr des Spiels. Für mich bedeutet das, dass wir im Sommer oder Herbst eine Ankündigung haben werden über ein Division 3 und dass dieser Contentpatch Ende des Jahres sozusagen die letzte Glasurschicht auf Division 2 sein wird.
Wäre cool wenn man die Tank und Heiler Builds stärker ausprägen würde.
