Tencent sichert sich Mehrheitsbeteiligung an Stunlock Studios

Und weiter geht es mit den Übernahmen: Tencent Holdings Ltd. hat eine Investitionsvereinbarung mit den Stunlock Studios (Battlerite; aktuell in Entwicklung: V Rising) geschlossen und somit ist der chinesische Riesenkonzern mittlerweile der Mehrheitsaktionär des Studios. Die Stunlock Studios sollen sowohl ihre Identität als auch ihre Unternehmensstruktur beibehalten, heißt es in der Ankündigung. Rund 30 Mitarbeiter arbeiten in dem Studio in Skövde (Schweden).

Die beiden Unternehmen begannen ihre Zusammenarbeit im Jahr 2016 (Battlerite-Launch in China). 2019 erwarb Tencent eine Minderheitsbeteiligung an den Stunlock Studios.

“Es ist eine Ehre, die größte Spielefirma der Welt aus der kleinen Stadt Skövde in Schweden zu vertreten. Die neue Investition von Tencent zeigt ein großes Vertrauen in uns, dass wir qualitativ hochwertige Titel liefern, bei denen das Gameplay im Vordergrund steht. Es wird uns die Möglichkeit geben, unsere große Vision für V Rising (unser aktuelles Spiel in Entwicklung) zu verwirklichen und uns bei zukünftigen Unternehmungen zu helfen, um langfristig als Studio zu expandieren”, sagt Rickard Frisegard, CEO von Stunlock Studios.

Tencent ist an zahlreichen Unternehmen im Spiele-Bereich beteiligt, u.a. an Riot Games (100%), Funcom (100%), Leyou Technologies (100% inkl. Digital Extremes, Splash Damage, King Maker etc.), Supercell (84,3%), Grinding Gear Games (80%), Yager (Mehrheitsbeteiligung), Klei Entertainment (Mehrheitsbeteiligung), 10 Chambers Collective (Mehrheitsbeteiligung), Epic Games (40%), Dontnod Entertainment (22,63%), Marvelous (20%), Glu Mobile (14,46%), Bluehole (11,5%), Frontier Developments (9%), Activision Blizzard (5%), Paradox Interactive (5%) und Ubisoft (5%). Außerdem werden Minderheitsbeteiligungen an Miniclip, Platinum Games und Bohemia Interactive gehalten. Der geplante Kauf von Sumo Digital wurde ebenfalls kürzlich bekanntgegeben. Tencent ist zudem an sehr vielen chinesischen Studios beteiligt. Beteiligungsdaten (in Klammern) laut Wikipedia (EN).
