Bandai Namco Entertainment hat Wort gehalten und Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment wie angekündigt am 21. August auf Steam veröffentlicht (Preis: 19,99 Euro). Dazu heißt es vom Publisher: “SWORD ART ONLINE RE: HOLLOW FRAGMENT erschafft das MMORPG-Spielerlebnis im Rahmen eines Einzelspieler-RPGs. Die Spieler werden Dutzende verschiedene Charaktere rekrutieren und mit diesen interagieren können. Das Kampfsystem bietet spannende Kämpfe, tiefgehende Strategien und herausfordernde Begegnungen. Im Rahmen eines Live-Streams aus Tokio (via DualShockers) hat Bandai Namco Entertainment endlich verraten, wann die PC-Umsetzung von Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment erscheinen wird: In gut einer Woche, am 21. August 2018, soll es soweit sein und das wie auf der PS4 als Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment betitelte Anime-Rollenspiel (zur offiziellen Website) auf Steam zum Download bereitstehen.

Preis- und Lokalisierungsangaben seien keine gemacht worden. Vorbestellern von Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet auf dem PC wurde das Spiel seinerzeit als Preorder-Bonus versprochen. Der von Aquria entwickelte Titel erschien 2014 auf PlayStation Vita, 2015 folgte dann eine erweiterte Neuauflage für PlayStation 4.
