Suicide Squad: Rocksteady-Gründer verlassen das Studio

18 Jahre lang haben Sefton Hill und Jamie Walker für Rocksteady gearbeitet – aber jetzt ist Schluss. Die beiden Gründer verlassen das Studio vor dem Release von Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Dies gaben die Rocksteady Studios selbst in einer Mitteilung auf Twitter bekannt. Demnach werden Hill und Walker zum Jahresende ihre Taschen packen und das Entwicklerstudio in London hinter sich lassen. Der Spielebranche wollen sie aber nicht den Rücken kehren.

Rocksteady: Die Gründer über ihre Trennung



“Unsere Entscheidung, Rocksteady zu verlassen, war gelinde gesagt sehr emotional! Vom Tag der Gründung des Unternehmens im Jahr 2004 bis heute war Rocksteady unser Leben und unsere Seele”, heißt es von Hill und Walker im offenen Brief zu ihrem Abschied.

Man sei sehr stolz auf das, was man in der Zeit erreicht habe. Angefangen vom ersten Spiel Urban Chaos über die Batman Arkham-Reihe bis hin zu Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, dem aktuellen Projekt von Rocksteady. Außerdem bedankt man sich bei den Fans, die diesen Weg auch erst ermöglicht haben.


Jetzt sei für beide der perfekte Zeitpunkt gekommen, um das Studio in neue Hände zu geben. Selbst möchte man ein “ein neues Abenteuer im Gaming” beginnen. Wohin es die Wege der beiden genau verschlägt, bleibt aber vorerst ein Geheimnis.

Suicide Squad: Auf der Zielgeraden der Entwicklung



Die Nachfolger von Sefton Hill und Jamie Walker stehen übrigens schon parat. Nathan Burlow, ebenfalls ein Gründungsmitglied von Rocksteady, übernimmt zukünftig die Studioleitung. Sein Kollege Darius Sadeghian schlüpft hingegen in die Rolle des Studio Product Directors.

Unter beiden soll die Entwicklung von Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League unbeirrt weitergehen. Sowieso sei das Spiel “fast fertig”, weshalb Hill und Walker genau jetzt die Entscheidung zum Abschied gefasst haben. Einen Releasetermin für das neue Spiel der Rocksteady Studios gibt es aber noch nicht. Aktuellen Informationen zufolge soll Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League 2023 für PC, PlayStation 5 und Xbox Series X | S erscheinen.

  1. Auch wenn versucht wird das Ganze vom Studio in positives Licht zu rücken: Wenn die Gründer das Unternehmen beide während der finalen Entwicklungsphase ihres Spiels verlassen ist das kein gutes Zeichen.
    Und nach dem halbgaren Gotham Knights steht das Spiel damit für mich unter keinem guten Stern, obwohl es von den wahren Schöpfern hinter der Arkham stammt…
