Rund elf Jahre hat Ubisoft in dieses Projekt investiert, am Ende hat es doch noch mit einem Release geklappt: Skull and Bones. Ihr wisst schon, das große Piratenspiel des französischen Publishers, mit dem man einst auf den Hype rund um Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag aufbauen wollte. Unzählige Verschiebungen haben die Veröffentlichung aber immer wieder verzögert, ehe es im Februar 2024 auf den aktuellen Plattformen anlegte. Mit einer neuen Gratis-Aktion will Ubisoft nun für frische Seemänner und Seefrauen sorgen.

Skull and Bones gratis: Eine Woche lang Schiffe für lau versenken

Anlässlich des Starts von Season 2 öffnet Ubisoft nämlich die Tore und lässt euch Skull and Bones eine komplette Woche lang kostenlos erleben. Ganz ohne (Enter)Haken, versteht sich natürlich. Denn ihr könnt laut Ubisoft sämtliche Inhalte in dieser Zeit ausprobieren, sprich euch entweder durch die Hauptkampagne kämpfen oder Nebenaufträge mit befreundeten Pirat*innen in Angriff nehmen.

Wichtig sind die folgenden Daten, falls ihr an der Free Week von Skull and Bones teilnehmen wollt:

  • Welche Plattformen? PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect), PS5, Xbox Series X|S
  • Preload ab: 28. Mai, 18:00 Uhr auf allen Plattformen
  • Start der Free Week: 30. Mai, 18:00 Uhr für PC, ab 19:00 Uhr für Konsolen
  • Ende der Free Week: 6. Juni, 09:00 Uhr für Xbox Series X|S, um 14 Uhr für PC und PS5

Darüber hinaus versprechen die Entwickler*innen, dass “jeder Erfolg, jeder Schatz und jede Schiffsverbesserung” übernommen wird, solltet ihr auch nach dem Gratis-Zeitraum an Bord bleiben. Wie passend, dass zusammen mit der Free Week außerdem eine Rabattaktion startet: In dem oben genannten Zeitraum wird der Preis von Skull and Bones um die Hälfte reduziert.

Was bietet die zweite Season?

Wenn ihr Skull and Bones gratis ausprobiert, könnt ihr euch außerdem in die Inhalte von Season 2 stürzen. Die startet nämlich am 28. Mai und bringt neue Inhalte in die stürmische und raue See des Online-Spiels. Unter anderem bekommt ihr es fortan mit den Hubac-Zwillingen zu tun, dürft ein neues Schiff erwerben und erlebt den Megalodon-Hai als frisch hinzugefügtes Ungeheuer der Meere.

Neben den neuen Inhalten soll die als “Chorus of Havoc” getaufte Season außerdem das Endgame von Skull and Bones verbessern. So ist die Rede von einem Flottenmanagement, neuen Schiffupgrades und den Helm-Pachtverträgen. Zu guter Letzt gibt es mit Buyout und Manufactory Defense zwei neue Spielmodi.

Trotz des bislang überschaubaren Erfolgs soll Skull and Bones mit Season 2 noch längst nicht zu Ende gehen. Season 3 und Season 4 befinden sich bereits in Entwicklung. Einen deutlich größeren Erfolg dürfte sich Ubisoft hingegen von Assassin’s Creed Shadows erhoffen, welches vor kurzem erstmals enthüllt wurde.
