15 Jahre hat Portal auf dem Buckel, aber schon bald wird Valves Klassikers wieder glänzen: Portal with RTX steht kurz vor dem Release. Die Systemanforderungen fallen aber ziemlich hoch aus.

Gemäß Nvidia erscheint die RTX-Version von Portal am 8. Dezember 2022 auf Steam. Besitzer des Originals erhalten die Neuauflage, die dem Namen gerecht vollständig auf Raytracing setzt, sogar kostenlos. Allerdings wird wohl eine aktuelle Nvidia-Grafikkarte zur Voraussetzung, denn zur Unterstützung von AMD-Grafikkarten gibt es derzeit nur ein Schweigen.

Portal with RTX: Hohe Systemanforderungen für schicke Grafik



Der Grund dafür ist der Umstand, dass Portal with RTX nicht von Valve entwickelt wird, sondern von Nvidias Lightspeed Studios. Die haben in der Vergangenheit bereits die RTX-Versionen von Minecraft und Quake 2 entwickelt und widmen sich nun Portal.

Auch hier erhält das Spiel die komplette Raytracing-Transformation: Sämtliche Lichtquellen sind ray-traced, es gibt realistische Schattenwürfe und Oberflächenreflektionen. Alles, so Nvidia, wird in Echtzeit berechnet und dargestellt, was in Aktion wie folgt aussieht:



Die komplette RTX-Unterstützung verlangt jedoch einiges an Leistung. Zum einen benötigt ihr mindestens eine aktuelle Grafikkarte der RTX 3000-er Generation und zum anderen wird auch DLSS vorausgesetzt, um ein flüssiges Spielerlebnis zu erhalten.

  • Videospeicher: 8 GB

Ob auch AMD Grafikkarten die RTX-Version von Portal spielen können, bleibt derzeit noch abzuwarten. Eine Unterstützung von AMDs FSR 2 steht aktuell zumindest nicht auf dem Plan.
