Am 30. Juni und 01. Juli fand in Dortmund ein großes Pokémon-GO-Event statt, und zwar die Europa-Premiere der “Safari Zone”. Laut The Pokémon Company International nahmen mehr als 170.000 Gäste aus aller Welt an dem Ereignis in der Ruhrgebietsstadt teil. Die Pokémon GO Safari Zone, bei der im Westfalenpark und dem gesamten Dortmunder Stadtgebiet viele und seltene Pokémon innerhalb des Spiels (auf Android und iOS) auftauchten, profitierte von sonnigem Wetter und weiteren Freizeitaktivitäten. Alleine im Westfalenpark wurden am besagten Wochenende 28,6 Millionen Pokémon gefangen.
“Schon im Vorfeld der eigentlichen Veranstaltungstage herrschte familiäre Stimmung in der ganzen Stadt, wo tausende Trainer Seite an Seite durch die Fußgängerzonen und Grünflächen spazierten. Schon von Weitem waren die Spieler an ihren vielen Niantic- und Pokémon-Fanartikeln zu erkennen, deren Ladekabel ihre Smartphones mit den Powerbanks in ihren Rucksäcken und Taschen verbanden. Diese offensichtlich geteilte Leidenschaft vermittelte ein freundschaftliches Gefühl, das viele Menschen spontan miteinander ins Gespräch brachte und mit Hilfe des neuen FreundeslistenFeatures internationale Freundschaften entstehen ließ. Da manche Pokémon nur in bestimmten Teilen der Erde gefangen werden können, kam im Anschluss meist auch das zweite neue Feature von Pokémon GO zum Einsatz: die Möglichkeit zu Tauschen. Dabei wurde nicht nur die Sammlung – der sogenannte Pokédex – vieler Spieler durch besondere Pokémon erweitert, sondern auch die mit dem Fang verbundenen Geschichten aus aller Welt geteilt”, heißt es in der Pressemitteilung.
