Vollkommen überraschend hat Riot Games angekündigt, dass man Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story bereits nächste Woche ein brandneues Rhythmus-Spiel veröffentlichen wird: Der Release ist für den 16. November 2021 auf PC und Nintendo Switch geplant. Via Netflix Games, dem neuen Spiele-Angebot für Abonnenten der Streaming-Plattform, soll der Titel in Kürze für iOS und Android ebenfalls zur Verfügung stehen. Entwickelt wird Hextech Mayhem von Choice Provisions, die sich in der Vergangenheit mit der BIT.TRIP-Reihe einen Namen gemacht haben.



Die Geschichte von Hextech Mayhem ist im Universum von League of Legends angesiedelt. Spieler übernehmen die Rolle von Yordle Ziggs, der dem verrückten Wissenschaftler Heimerdinger entkommen muss. Im Rhythmus der Musik müssen Spieler verschiedenen Hindernissen ausweichen oder Feinde mit Bombenwürfen ausschalten. Die beiden MOBA-Champions werden dabei verschiedene Schauplätze von Piltover durchqueren.



Unter dem Dach von Riot Forge – dem internen Publishing-Ableger von Riot Games – entstehen derzeit mehrere Projekte, die sich bei externen Studios in Produktion befinden. Dazu zählt beispielsweise auch Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, das derzeit bei Airship Syndicate (Battle Chasers: Nightwar, Darksiders Genesis) entwicklelt wird. Hextech Mayhem kann auf PC und Switch in den einschlägigen Stores ab sofort für 8,99 Euro vorbestellt werden.
