Epic Games Store: Neue Gratis-Spiele haben schaurigen Horror-Titel im Gepäck

Keine zwei Wochen müssen sich Halloween-Fans mehr gedulden und der Epic Games Store liefert angesichts des nahenden Festtags ein kostenloses Grusel-Game.

 

Weil einem die steigenden Preise in der Videospiele-Branche vor allem im AAA-Segment durchaus einen gehörigen Schrecken einjagen können, lässt einen die wöchentliche Aktion beim Steam Konkurrenten beinahe wieder aufatmen. Ab sofort und nur bis zum 26. Oktober um 16:59 Uhr könnt ihr euch erneut zwei Spiele völlig kostenlos unter den Nagel reißen.

The Evil Within: Vorbereitung auf Halloween

Eines davon ist das eingangs erwähnte Spuk-Spiel The Evil Within, das Erstlingswerk des 2010 gegründeten Entwicklerstudios Tango Gameworks unter der Leitung von Resident Evil-Veteran Shinji Mikami. Der 2014 veröffentlichte Survival-Horror lässt euch die Detektivmütze von Ermittler Sebastian Castellanos aufsetzen, der sich nach einem Massaker seiner Kollegen in einem wahren Albtraum wiederfindet und dort nun mit aufgestellten Nackenhaaren nach dem Ausgang sucht.

Damit ihm das gelingt, müsst ihr ihn durch ein echtes Labyrinth bestehend aus Stealth- und Shooter-Passagen lotsen, verfolgt von wirklich bizarren Kreaturen, die auch im Horror-Genre mit ihren Designs hervorstechen. Spielerisch erwartet euch zwar keine ganz runde Mischung, in unserem damaligen Test konnte the Evil Within aber mit seiner Inszenierung und den wohl dosierten Schauerelementen punkten, um für ziemliche Gänsehaut zu sorgen.

Eternal Threads: Brandgefährliche Entscheidungen

Wenn ihr angesichts des baldigen Geisterfests Jumpscares vermeiden wollt, aber nicht auf Spannung verzichten könnt, ist Eternal Threads vielleicht die bessere Wahl. In dem narrativen Adventure müsst ihr die sechs Hauptfiguren mithilfe von Zeitmanipulation davor bewahren, tragisch bei einem Hausbrand umzukommen. Eine Woche bleibt euch dafür sowie die sechs verschiedenen Perspektiven, zwischen denen es hin- und herzuspringen gilt.

Ob ihr dabei eine Person nach der anderen abhakt, chronologisch vorgeht oder wild hin- und herwechselt, bleibt ganz euch überlassen. Am Ende zählen allerdings eure Entscheidungen und natürlich sind die Schicksale der Brandopfer eng miteinander verwoben, sodass ihr über euer Vorgehen sorgfältig nachdenken solltet – im Zweifelsfall könnt ihr immer noch zurückspulen und etwas anderes ausprobieren.

Die nächsten Gratis-Spiele im Epic Games Store

Sollte euch die aktuelle Spieleauswahl weniger begeistern, lohnt ein Blick auf nächste Woche, wenn im Epic Games Store neue Gratis-Spiele auf euch warten. Pünktlich ab dem 26. Oktober um 17 Uhr tischt euch der Steam-Konkurrent mit The Evil Within 2 dann allerdings direkt die Fortsetzung zum Horror-Spiel von dieser Woche auf, es bleibt also gruselig.

Schaurig, aber weniger schockierend wird es dagegen in Tandem: A Tale of Shadows. Der Puzzle-Plattformer will euch mit Perspektivwechseln zwischen Top-Down- und Sidescroller-Ansicht begeistern und erinnert mit seiner Ästhetik an Neil Gaimans Coraline. Und wenn ihr euch auf andere Weise kostenlos in Halloween-Stimmung bringen wollt: Vampire Survivors hat gerade erst ein neues Update verpasst bekommen.
