Nintendo hat Dr. Mario World für Mobile-Geräte mit Android (Google Play) und iOS (App Store) veröffentlicht. Das Match-3-Puzzlespiel, bei dem farbige Kapseln und Viren einander zugeordnet werden müssen, ist kostenlos installierbar und umfasst Mikrotransaktionen, die in den Nutzer-Bewertungen teils scharf kritisiert werden. Auch Werbung kann angezeigt werden, schreibt Nintendo.

Der Hersteller erklärt weiter: “In Dr. Mario World gilt es, Zeit und Behandlungsmethode strategisch geschickt zu planen. Um einen Level von sämtlichen Viren zu befreien, steht nur eine beschränkte Zahl zweifarbiger Kapseln zur Verfügung. Zum Glück muss Dr. Mario der Epidemie aber nicht allein entgegentreten. Um der virulenten Plagegeister Herr zu werden, hat er ein komplettes Ärzteteam um sich versammelt, darunter Dr. Peach, Dr. Bowser, Dr. Toad und viele mehr. Darüber hinaus machen sich weitere beliebte Charaktere aus dem Super Mario-Universum in der virtuellen Virenbekämpfung nützlich: Als Assistenten unterstützen u.a. Gumbas, Koopas oder Shy Guys die Mediziner mit wertvollen Abwehrkräften und Spezialeffekten. SpielerInnen können jeweils zwei Assistenten für ihre Spielfigur wählen. Arbeit gibt es für alle mehr als genug: Zum Start des Spiels sind mehr als 200 Level in den unterschiedlichsten Welten von Viren befallen. Nach dem Start wird Dr. Mario World regelmäßig um neue Doktoren, Assistenten, Level und Welten erweitert. Die Startversion ist kostenlos und kann Werbung enthalten. Weitere Inhalte und Funktionen lassen sich innerhalb der Spiele-App dazukaufen. Zum Spielen ist eine Internetverbindung erforderlich.”

  2. Als "Liebhaber" des NES-Originals musste ich es natürlich mal testen (iPhone XR)
    Es hat bisher aber noch seine Probleme. Sollte man die App verlassen und wieder reinwechseln, dauert es weit über 30 Sekunden, bis man wieder was machen kann. Und manchmal stürzt es auch ab. Ein NoGo.
    Spielerisch fehlt mir halt der klassische Modus. Stattdessen ist dies nur eine Aneinanderreihung an Rätseln, die mit quasi vorbestimmten Moves zu lösen sind. Und das schlimmste: 5 Leben. Sind diese Verbraucht, darf man zahlen. Oder 30 Minuten warten.
