Universal 1440 Entertainment hatte gestern einen Trailer für den Film “Doom: Annihilation” veröffentlicht, der als “Direct-to-Video-Adaption” konzipiert ist und somit direkt auf DVD/Blu-Ray im Herbst 2019 erscheinen wird. Die neue Doom-Verfilmung hinterlässt im Trailer einen ziemlich schlechten Eindruck, wirkt sehr günstig produziert und scheint mit den Doom-Spielen erstaunlich wenig gemeinsam zu haben. Es gibt zwar große Waffen, eine Kettensäge und ein namentliches “Portal zur Hölle”, aber generell deutet sehr wenig auf irgendwas im Doom-Universum hin. Das User-Feedback zum Trailer fällt dementsprechend negativ aus, zum Beispiel wird gefragt, wo denn die Dämonen seien und warum es um ein Team und nicht um einen Typen, den Doomguy, gehen würde. Eine Person schrieb auch, dass die Doom-Verfilmung aus dem Jahr 2005 nach dem Trailer zu “Doom: Annihilation” gar nicht mehr “so schlecht” wirken würde.



Auch die Entwickler des Spiels haben sich via Twitter zu Wort gemeldet und sich gleich von dem Machwerk distanziert. Sie schrieben: “Wir sind nicht an dem Film beteiligt.”

    Die MACHEN ein CashGrab. Die produzieren genau das, wofür das Budget da ist: Einen vergleichsweise billig runtergenudelten SF Film, der zufällig Doom heißt. Weil der Inhaber der Lizenz nur dafür bezahlt. Der Zynismus fängt da weiter oben an.
    Ich fürchte sogar, der darf nicht einmal selbstironisch sein. So aus der Abt. "Wir wissen, dass das billiger D2DVD ist, ihr wisst, dass das billiger D2DVD ist, lasst uns Spaß haben." Sharknado und so.
    Ich meinte "versuchen" in dem Sinne, dass selbst ein so billig produzierter Film erstmal profitabel sein muss. Falls das wie gehabt überhaupt das Ziel ist und nicht nur der Erhalt an den Filmrechten.
    Wenn es wenigstens selbstironisch wäre, könnte man zumindest etwas die schlechten Effekte über D2DVD verteidigen. Ich glaube sowas würde an Charme verlieren, kämen die SpecialEffects von ILM.
