Der zweite spielbare Charakter in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night ist enthüllt worden. Es ist der Dämonenjäger-Samurai Zangetsu, der seine Stimme von David Hayter (Snake aus der Metal-Gear-Reihe) verliehen bekommt. Zangetsu schwingt das Zangetsuto Katana und kann einen Talisman mit Elementar-Magie nutzen. Schwierige Bereiche im Level erreicht er mit seinem Kettenhaken (Chain Hook). Der dritte spielbare Charakter soll eine “größere Überraschung” sein, heißt es. Die beiden spielbaren Charaktere gehören zu den kostenlosen Zusatzinhalten, die in Form kostenloser Updates nachgeliefert werden sollen. An Day-One, also dem Veröffentlichungstag, sollen folgende Zusatzinhalte zur Verfügung stehen: Nightmare Modus, New Game Plus, 8-Bit Retro Level und Cheat Codes.

In einem ausführlichen Kickstarter-Update versuchen die Entwickler zudem auf den Unmut über den DLC “Iga’s Back Pack” (der eigentlich nur für Kickstarter-Unterstützer verfügbar sein sollte), die FuturePak Steel Cases und die allgemeine Preisgestaltung zu reagieren.

Die Veröffentlichung der digitalen Downloadversionen von Bloodstained auf PC, PS4 und Xbox One erfolgt am 18. Juni. Die Einzelhandelsversionen für PlayStation 4 und Xbox One werden am 20. Juni in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz in den Läden stehen. Die digitale Downloadversion für Nintendo Switch wird am Dienstag, den 25. Juni im Nintendo eShop veröffentlicht. Die Switch-Einzelhandelsversion folgt am 26. Juni. Alle Standardversionen werden zum empfohlenen Preis von 39,99 Euro angeboten und können vorbestellt werden.
