Ob Baldur’s Gate 3 ein gutes Spiel ist, das steht außer Frage. Perfekt ist es, wie die wenigsten Dinge im Leben, aber nicht, da stimmen auch die Entwickler*innen von Larian Studios zu. Obwohl Perfektion nie wirklich erreicht werden kann, wollen sie ihr zumindest noch etwas näherkommen, in dem sie neue Updates für ihren Rollenspielhit auf den Weg schicken.

Fast ein Jahr nach Release ist es daher Zeit für ausführliche Tests des anstehendes Patch Nummer 7. Eine geschlossene Beta sollte eigentlich bereits gestartet sein, doch aufgrund von unvorhergesehenen Komplikationen verschiebt sich das entsprechende Datum nach hinten.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Beta-Test zu Patch 7 geht nicht zum angedachten Termin live

In der Spieleentwicklung, und beim Programmieren generell, wird man dieses Problem nur zu gut kennen: Man dreht an einer einzigen Stellschraube und plötzlich tauchen allerlei unerwartete Fehler auf. Damit sieht sich aktuell auch das Team von Larian Studios bei der Entwicklung des anstehenden Updates für Baldur’s Gate 3 konfrontiert. Im Zuge diverser Bugfixes krachte das System passiver Würfelproben in sich zusammen, ein Grund hierfür konnte nicht direkt erkannt werden.

So wird die Situation auf dem offiziellen Twitter-Account des Games beschrieben. Folge des ganzen Schlamassels ist, dass die geschlossene Beta zu Patch 7, welche ursprünglich am 22. Juli 2024 losgehen sollte, ans Ende der Woche verlegt werden muss. Die gute Nachricht lautet: Falls ihr euch noch nicht für die Testphase registriert habt, bleibt immer noch Zeit, das nachzuholen. Ob ihr anschließend wirklich teilnehmen dürft, entscheidet allerdings das angewendete Zufallsverfahren.

Sollte euch das Glück hold sein und ihr werdet zum Testen eingezogen, könnt ihr euch auf neue Endszenarien für Durchgänge mit böser Absicht, der Einführung von Mod-Support und weitere Anpassungen in Baldur’s Gate 3 wie einem verbesserten Splitscreen-Modus einstellen. In ausgereifter Form werden alle restlichen Spieler*innen diese Änderungen voraussichtlich im September 2024 in Augenschein nehmen dürfen.
