Die Entwickler von Ash of Gods (AurumDust) versuchen das entscheidungsbasierte “rogue-like” Storytelling im folgenden Trailer zu demonstrieren: “Was wäre, wenn jede Entscheidung, die du triffst, groß oder klein, die Story des Spiels beeinflussen würde, das du spielst? Was, wenn diese kleine Kränkung, die du dem Wachmann der Stadt zugefügt hast, dich später heimsuchen wird? Und was würde passieren, wenn dein Hauptcharakter mitten in der Geschichte stirbt – könntest du dein Abenteuer trotzdem fortsetzen?”

In dem Taktik-Rollenspiel, das nach eigenen Angaben von The Banner Saga, Darkest Dungeon sowie japanischen Visual Novels inspirierte wurde, versucht man die Dunkelheit und den Tod zu stoppen, die das Land heimsuchen. Ash of Gods ist ein rundenbasiertes Story-Rollenspiel rund um Entscheidungen und Konsequenzen. Prinzipiell soll jeder Charakter sterben können. “Kurzfristige Vorteile können einen Charakter das Leben kosten, während manche Episode leichter zu spielen sein kann, wenn Opfer gebracht werden”, schreiben die Entwickler. Darüber hinaus sind PvP-Elemente im Multiplayer geplant. Das Spiel wird voraussichtlich im März 2018 für PC erscheinen.
