Electronic Arts und Respawn Entertainment werden im Laufe des Monats die ersten regionalen Beta-Tests für Apex Legends Mobile starten. Die Testläufe (Closed Beta) beginnen in Indien und auf den Philippinen auf Android-Geräten. Das Battle-Royale-Spiel soll mit der Zeit in weiteren Regionen zugänglich gemacht und auch für iOS umgesetzt werden.

Chad Grenier (Game Director): “Apex Legends Mobile wurde speziell für Touchscreens entwickelt, mit optimierter Steuerung und durchdachten Optimierungen, mit denen die fortschrittlichsten Battle-Royale-Kämpfe möglich sind, die es für Handys gibt. Es ist eine neue Version von Apex Legends, aber sie entspricht dem Original. Zu Beginn halten wir alles klein – nur ein paar Tausend Spieler in Indien und auf den Philippinen -, aber im Laufe dieses Jahres wollen wir das Spiel in mehr Regionen und mehr Spielern auf der ganzen Welt verfügbar machen.”

Da Apex Legends Mobile speziell für Mobilgeräte entwickelt wurde, wird es kein Crossplay mit den Konsolen- oder PC-Versionen geben. Die Mobile-Version wird auf einem Free-to-play-Modell basieren. Es soll keine kostenpflichtigen Objekte geben, die einen “Gameplay-Vorteil” verschaffen. Die Mobile-Version wird über eigene Battle Passes, kosmetische Sammel- und freischaltbare Objekte verfügen, die nicht mit denen der PC- und Konsolenversionen von Apex Legends identisch sind.
