505 Games: Neues Projekt von Mercury Steam (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow) gesichert

505 wird den Vertrieb des neuen Projekts vom spanischen Entwicklungsstudio Mercury Steam übernehmen. Das geht aus einem Geschäftsbericht der Muttergesellschaft Digital Bros hervor. Details zum kommenden Spiel werden allerdings noch nicht genannt.

Dort heißt es:

“Digital Bros S.p.A. announces the contract between its subsidiary 505 Games and MercurySteam Entertainment S.L. for development and the world-wide publishing of a brand-new videogame to be released on both PC and consoles.”

Mercury Steam erregte erstmals mit Castlevania: Lords of Shadow international größere Aufmerksamkeit, bei dem Konami die Reihe erstmals an einen europäischen Entwickler auslagerte. Selbst Metal-Gear-Schöpfer Hideo Kojima war in das ambitionierte Action-Adventure involviert, das in unserem Test einen Award abräumen konnte. Zuletzt arbeitete das Studio vor allem an dem asymmetrischen Mehrspieler-Titel Spacelords, der ursprünglich als Raiders of the Broken Planet veröffentlicht wurde.

    Die "größere Aufmerksamkeit" kam erst mit lords of shadow.
    Es waren größtenteils durchschnittliche Kritiken und was Verkaufszahlen angeht, hat sich Codemasters nie positiv oder negativ diesbezüglich geäußert. Daher sind die "miesen" Verkaufszahlen, nur ein Auswuchs deiner Fantasie und nicht zu bestätigen. Da der Titel aber in vielen Publikationen Previews und Tests erhalten hat, die meist länger als eine Seite waren, ist das ein recht guter Beleg für eine gewisse internationale Aufmerksamkeit, um die es ja geht. Viel Glück beim nächsten Mal.
    Naja, niemand erinnert sich daran das Clive Barkers Jericho jemals existiert hat, egal ob das unfair dem Spiel gegenüber ist. R.E.M. hat vor Losing my Religion auch schon ganz tolle Musik gemacht. ;)

  4. Jericho war ziemlich mies, und konnte mich nur deshalb zum Durchspielen durchringen, weil es zum einem sehr kurz war (4 Stunden ca.), zum anderem, weil ich halt auch neugierig war, welche Horrorgestalten es einem noch entgegenwerfen würde.
    Das Spiel ist imho ziemlich gutes Remake/Reboot Material. Nächstes mal mit brauchbarem Game- und Gunplay und keinem antiklimatischen sowie unfertigen Ende, und das könnt ganz gut ankommen, denk ich.
    Mercury Steam ist imho auch eines von ganz ganz wenigen europäischen Entwicklerstudios, welche ordentliche Kampfsysteme anstelle von Eurojank in ihren Spielen hinbekommen haben (mit Ausnahme von oben genanntem, da mangelte es halt an Zeit & Budget).
